What will I do with my moustache?

A few weeks ago I waxed my moustache for the first time ever. My hair is fine and blonde but I had started noticing there were lots of it. So anyway. I did it with this wax I got from Boots, specific for facial hair, and whilst initially everything seemed fine, two days after waxing I got several spots in every single area of skin that had been touched by the wax. I am blessed with completely clear skin and very rarely get spots so there's absolutely no doubt in my mind that the wax is the culprit. Have any of you experienced this? Is it worth me trying with a different brand of wax or should I not bother with wax at all. The spots were awful, all around my mouth, and took 2 weeks to clear, and this was during the Christmas celebrations time when there were drinks, parties and what not!!

You need to clean the area afterwards with an astringent. The open hair follicles are vulnerable to infection.

You also need to use a facial scrub a couple of days after waxing (a mild one). Otherwise the skin heals over and as the hair re grows you get spots. Same as normal waxing.....

I use a facial wash with an exfoliating pad from the Body Shop.....

Eugh... same happened to me and with professional threading. I use superdrug hair remover cream now

I used to use the facial wax strips instead, which were OK. I think if you keep on going over and over the same bit, it can lead to that sensitive spotting thing. I tried threading and find I get on better with it probably because it hurts a lot less.

I found threading better also. I think it is difficult to wax yourself, cos you are not at the same angle as someone doing it to you, IUSWIM.

some nice suggestions here Grin

(i'm really sorry, i couldn't help myself)

Have it threaded! Honestly, it was a revelation to me.

Hmmmm.... I don't know. I might try wax again in just one side and see what happens. Will do the suggested cleaning, prepping etc. I would have been better off sporting a moustache with my lbd than all those goddam awful spots!

Am reading with interest, I had the same problem with wax so I tweeze and shave.
How much does threading hurt? I like to think I am a toughie, I can manage to epilate my legs without falling off the chair! Grin

You shave??? You crazy??????????

Only a little! My facial hair is very fine so I only need to go over very lightly.

Wow
