Come and talk to me about changing bags.

So I have decided that as a late Chrostmas present to myself (DH and I didn't get anything for each other and said we would when we had the money in the new year) I would like to buy a super doopey changing bag (due April) but I want the bag to be a bag as well as a changing bag.

So I have been having a good look through and I really like the Storksak Elizabeth but I don't want to commit to anything before I have heard the wise words of you lot.

What do you all think of the Elizabeth

Can you suggest any others for me to look at?

I read your title and was going to recommend anything by Storksak. Personally, I love my 'Emily', but I prefer something less structured.

That said, it's been about 6 months since I've used it because I now use a satchel from Monsoon that functions perfectly well as a changing bag.

I had a lovely brown leather changing bag by pink lining, not sure if they still do it. Next child will have a large handbag although I'm always tempted by the pacapod type bags in reality all my stuff just gets chucked in anyway so will just go to tk maxx and buy nicest large leather bag I see on the day!

With DS2 I bought a Mulberry Bayswater which comfortably housed all I needed. I also used a large brown leather satchel from Gap. They are still my go-to bags now.....and DS2 is now 9!

I would love a Mulberry Bayswater but sadly the budget doesn't stretch anywhere near that amount!

I do love leather satchels and have been contemplating getting one for some time but they just became so bloody common place everyone had one.

Maybe I should start looking at them again now and see if I can get a really good one.

Are the Stalksaks ridiculously too big and bulky or can you use them as a normal bag without looking like you are off camping?

JH- get the Elizabeth! My other DC are already in school, but for this DC I got the Elizabeth. I love it. Mine is regularly full to the brim-and I'm breastfeeding! I think it is a perfect size!

I am very close to ordering the Elizabeth!

get a longchamp pilage and put one of those fold and go baby changing mats with wipe pocket and nappy storage inside it. So lightweight. Can always put bibs/bottles in another bag inside it too. I am not that keen on storksak's though (heavy, bit mumsy to me) so perhaps I am biased!!

I have two Elizabeth's (lucky me) but my fave is my tan leather Sofia. The leather is so soft, it holds a bit more than the Elizabeth's and I get compliments every time I use it :)

JaquelineHyde · 12/01/2013 16:40

Emo I've had a look at the Longchamp and I'm not that keen on it, not sure why but I just don't think it is me.

Moose I think you have too many bags and should donate one immediately to me Grin

I have been looking at the Sofia as well though and I do really, really like so it will now probably take me a few more days to pick between the two!

I bought a Kenneth Cole leather satchel to use with DS (v reduced and I used the change bag need as an excuse to buy it). I would seriously not buy a "change bag", as I think - unless someone can enlighten me that there is some other reason - that they are basically big bags with a matching change mat.

There are some lovely satchel / messenger bag types out there now, I second whoever said they'd just go to TK Maxx and buy something big and lovely from there!
