Straighteners - easy?

Just got back from the hairdressers and have a lovely sleek chin length bob. Normally my hair is too thick and sort of bushy (though not curly). She used straighteners and it now just looks shiny and swishy and smooth and lush....

I'm deluding myself that I'd be able to achieve this at home aren't I? I've never even been able to blow dry my hair properly, feels like I don't have enough hands for brush, hairdryer, hair etc.... is using straighteners easier or am I about to waste a bucket load of money on them...?

Straightening is very easy just make sure you pull down and not out and slightly curl the ends under.

I agree, straightening is lots easier than blow drying. Use thin sections and decent straighteners - any that heat up to 230 degrees - and you'll manage fine.

Jeez - just looked at the price of GHDs - £100 on something I'm not sure I'll use cus of all the faff sectioning etc.... hair does look really good though.... arrggh, torn!

Make sure you use a serum, cream or oil made for protecting your hair from the hear on your hair first to avoid damaging it.

I don't blow dry mine with a brush I just do it with my hands as its easier.

Ghds are brilliant and their heat protect spray is good too, I stock up when it's cheap on amazon.

I've had GHDs and cheaper (much cheaper!) Babyliss ones and couldn't tell the difference. I think the important thing is to get some that heat up to 230 though. I had a pair in the past that only heated to 200 and they didn't work nearly so well.
