I want a perm

That says it all really. I have DEAD straight hair which will not hold a curl by any other means. I am 35 years old and feel that this is my last chance to experiment with my hair in a significant way - back in the day my hair has been all the colours of the rainbow and all lengths but ALWAYS straight. My hair is properly flat at the mo. Is this a really bad idea? My DH thinks it is but will not put me off. My Ma thinks that I should go for it (she has mega curly hair) as she thinks it will play on my mind and I can always crop it off. My questions are 1) will it work 2) has anyone had a good perm in London town? Hair is currently chin length shaped bob with no colour or treatments. Many thanks S&B ladies!

Is yours a digital perm then mightycheeks?

Love this quote Grin

hi Sali,
I thought we were all in this together!
I know it would be a bit more of a challenge but why not try actually showing some flair and looking fantastic on a budget of about £3.50 and with 5 mins to get ready.
I don't have a budget of £250 for my wardrobe, make up, and haircuts for a whole year. If I spent that much on how I looked far from my partner thinking I was hot, he would probably get me sectioned.
Next week please: How to make yourself fantastic heated rollers out of old yoghurt pots, tin foil and half an old potato - it would be so much more 2012.

Ha! Love it! My hair is one thing I have always spent cash on having once had a most unfortunate haircut in about 1994. Yes was a digital perm Curious.

And I got to drink a coffee, 2 cups of tea and 2 glasses of vino in peace while reading trashmags. That was a real treat!

Glad it worked out well then for that price!
I wish I could train to do it would make a mint Smile Doubt there's anywhere up north doing the training but would be worth travel. I'd probably need a second mortgage to do the course?

Not sure - my hairdresser said that perms big(or rather popular) in Newcastle and Liverpool at the moment. Not sure if this is really true though

jackstini · 12/01/2013 15:35

I am midlands too so if I find anywhere will post

CuriousMama · 12/01/2013 20:10

Dp said he'll borrow the funding for training if he has too. I really fancy training in it now.

Well I have washed my hair and it is still curly!! I am relieved. If anything it is more curly than it was "fresh". Interestingly it is much curlier when wet - not sure how I can keep that level of curl? Any ideas for products?

May help?

Jacksmania · 13/01/2013 03:49

This really worked for me when I had a perm.

SnifflesBlue · 13/01/2013 04:12

I've had a perm for all of my adult life but just recently I've had it all chopped off and gone for the Mia Farrow look.
