Cleanser/wash & moisturiser for oily skin (reasonably priced)

I have decided to knock OCM on the head as it hasn't really worked for me. Before that I used an Olay wash which was soap free but now they have changed it so it has soap in it. Also used Nivea oil free moisturiser which was lovely and light and just right for my skin but again it has changed and now is much thicker and greasier and just sits on my skin.

Stuck what to try next as don't have a huge budget. The OCM was too drying and I am starting to get wrinkles so want to be careful about moisturising properly.

I have oily skin and the ocm didn't work for me either. I now use either a cleanser such as bodyshop aloe cream cleanser, or boots organics, but wash it off with a hot flannel as you would the with the ocm. I also use Emma hardie moringa cleansing balm - I sort of alternate the two depending on what my skin needs!

Thanks Knitkknack will check those out - what do you use for a moisturiser?

Clean and clear daily exfoliating wash. £2.99. I swear by it.

Thanks madame - unfortunately tried the clean and clear before and it dried my skin out too - I have fickle skin!

I didn't know Neutrogena had an oil free moisturiser - seems like such a hard thing to find in the general supermarket beauty sections - will take another look. Thanks.

I second Neutrogena's oil free moisturiser, although I've found it's a bit tingly so am still using a separate eye cream.

Cetaphil do a good cleanser. I'm currently using the Garnier Pure 3-in-1 scrub, with zinc and white clay. I worried at first that it might be too harsh, but it hasn't been so far. It's a bugger isn't it, worrying about spots and wrinkles at the same time. Not fair!

I have about three that I again change depending on my skin - Vichy normaderm, which is from their oily skin range but is nicely moisturising without being greasy, skinfood light moisturiser which is a NZ natural brand available on Amazon - that's a bit more moisturising, and also the seaweed mattifying lotion from the bodyshop. I do have very oily skin though so during the day after cleansing I'll often just use boots Botanics skin relief ultra-calm serum. I have to use blotting sheets throughout the day too (pain in the bum!) I'm trying to focus on the positive that at 40 I have no wrinkles, but oily skin really is a PAIN :)

That gives me lots of options to look into - thanks Knicknack and a Viewfrom.

Thats exactly the problem - my skin is oily and blemishy so I am looking at the sort of products teenagers would use while at the same time thinking the wrinkles will be on there way soon (mid thirties) so checking out the anti aging stuff Confused

La Roche Posay Efflaclar range is really good for oily skin. I'm oily and ageing too, sucks doesn't it?

I use the toner and the Efflaclar K which is like a moisturising treatment. My skin's never been better. They do various other things in the range, like a cleanser and other moisturisers. Each item ranges from about £11 to £15 but are often in the Boots 3 for 2.

jumpyjan · 06/01/2013 18:01

Quinn thanks for that - never heard of that range.

I have made myself a little list and am heading to boots this week.

Oily skin really is a pita.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Vichy and La Roche-Posay are usually side by side in Boots. Boots usually have their 3 for 2 offer running mid-late January, so might be worth holding out for that.

Another vote for the Nutrogena pink grapefruit range, especially the scrub which is perfect, has salycilic acid to clear pores but is gentle enough for daily use.

Plus it's pink and smells yummy, unlike all the blue teenagery ones! Grin

I use neutrogena 2-in-1 face wash and mask. It's in an orange tube and has salicyclic acid in it so good for spots. I occasionally try something else but keep coming back to it cos it's fab. Moisturiser wise, I use a botanics (from boots) mattifying one, has got SPF 15 and is good at making my skin soft without being greasy and shiny. Hth x

OCM was not great for my skin and left it a bit of a mess. I used Vichy normaderm to get it clear again which was lovely. Although have now switched to body shop aloe Vera range whic is great and always on offer.
