I have 6 dc, youngest being 5. in 2012 year I left my abusive ex and it's been tough. I stopped wearing make up when I met him as he said i looked better without it Hmm. So I lost confidence with it.
Anyways, I need help! I haven't got much money but have been looking on here and it seems that the Bobbi brown long wear gel gets good reviews, but there are so many colours that I am very confused!
I don't know which colour to treat myself to. I am mid forties and have hazel green eyes.
I know this is a long shot, I really long shot but is there anyone out there who can give me some advice on venturing back into make up and what colours I could wear etc etc
thanksSmile

The bobbi brown gel liner is great but needs a bit of practice to apply. Once on it doesn't shift. I tested it with a one hour workout with a personal trainerGrin sounds like you would suit golds, browns, greens - autumn colours. You can get brown gel liner and they do some great pots of cream eyeshadow that are opaque and shimmery. Go to the counter and have them make you up and then get what you like. I'd start with a basic kit, bb cream, basic neutral shadow and lip, soft blusher, liner and mascara. Then add to it as time and finance allows. Have fun!

Bobbi Brown is fab! I would advise going along for a free makeover. You can try the colours and makeup and see whether you like it before your buy. There is no hard sell.

If you're on a budget, there is loads of great high street make up which is good. Revlon is a fantastic brand, but there is great stuff from Rimmel, Maybelline, Bourjois.Even MUA from Superdrug is good, and only about a pound an item. Perhaps treat yourself to a few cheaper bits and have a play and a practice before investing in more expensive stuff. Not saying you shouldn't buy Bobbi Brown, but honestly, High Street make up does the job just as well generally.

I didn't wear a scrap of makeup until a few years ago when I was about 33. I watched youtube tutorials and taught myelf through them. Gradually becoming more confident.

Pixiwoo, Lisa Eldridge and Tanya Burr have great youtube channels and are a good place to start.

Thank you so much everyone for taking the time to reply! That's a really good idea about tutorials on you tube and the basics I should buy. I think in my head I'm still stuck in the 80's somewhere Blush.
I'm hoping to pop into town tomorrow so will check out where they do BB stuff, perhaps Debenhams?
I was attracted to the BB longwear gel as it doesn't shift and I'm notorious for giving myself panda eyes within seconds of wearing anything. One of the reasons I don't wear eye stuff
many thanks once again, happy new year to you allSmile

I had never used eyeliner until a lady on a BB counter showed me this. It is ace and gives a really good effect. I use the brown ones (sepia ink or espresso ink) as I find the black a bit hard.

I have hazel eyes and use espresso ink which looks good instead of black. They are great for not shifting but I do find application tricky due to consistency but ime worth it. If you want a non smudgey liner that is easier to apply then the urban decay 24 7 pencils are also great esp colour stash for hazel eyes but they don't do an everyday brown which is what BB is good at. I'd recommend bourjois and revlon from high street brands as best quality.
