I've never done anything much more than keep them short and clean, yet it doesn't seem enough nowadays. if I use nail polish, it's clear... I want to start doing more (to be groomed, y'know Wink), yet I don't have a clue what to do!. I've noticed the edges often seem grubby (yet i am always washing my hands) where the skin meets the nail..

Can you help?

Well I am kind of the same as I do lots of practical manual type work so always washing my hands, first get a cuticule oil so the skin near yours isn't dry and then a good hand cream, I'm using Avon at the mo that's ok for me and I hate to say it but the best nail polish that survives the kind of stuff I do with my hands is Dior, it's expensive £18 but that in nude and a hand cream that's all you need.
My nails looked terrible before Christmas and now they look polished !
I have tried loads of nail polish opi, nails inc and max factor were good but still chip. Dior is the best and you only have to have one ?

Shellac changed my life.........sad but true Smile.

Give it a google

Go to a salon to get started and take note of what they do, cuticles etc.
And yes, Shellac is amazing, definitly with you there KateByChristmas

I'm sat here with red glittery Christmas nails (think Dorothy's shoes) chip free....... They were painted over a week ago Grin

Agree with Shellac or gel mani recommendation. Also a good cuticle oil rubbed in daily will transform the "grubby bits" Grin

What counts as a 'good cuticle oil'? Grin

Off to Google Shellac

I have Gelish (like Shellac) on..also red and sparkly, had them done 10 days ago and they are still perfect, I just have the polish, it has also chanved my life, sadly as I always have nicr nails people buy me tons of polish thinking I do it myself!

Honestly the best cuticle oil is probably just plain almond oil. It can get a bit messy so might be better to decant into a dropper bottle if you have one. If you want to buy a specific cuticle one then solar oil is good.
