PRO:VOKE 'Purple' shampoo/conditioner for grey/platinum hair

I read a while ago on the S&B board about products for grey/brassy blonde hair and have bought some today. They are the twice-a-week brightening and daily shampoos and the conditioner. I have a mix of grey, blonde highlights and dark blonde hair ................... will these products be ok? I just don't want to end up with a purple tint to my hair but would love to bring out my natural grey. Any tips before I 'go for it' tomorrow?!! TIA

I have dark blonde hair with light blonde highlights. Been using a few weeks and it's taken the yellowness out of my hair and made the colour just nicer. Hard to describe really. No purple tinge though.

Excellent news! I just needed some reassurance before I try it tomorrow! Many thanks, BP103 Smile

I used to use this when I had died blonde hair, as BP said, removes yellow tinge, never got a purple tinge. Was lovely, shinier and brighter. Took a few washes to "kick in"

I'm feeling more confident with each comment! Thanks, FSS Smile

Just be careful on the ends of your hair if they are dry as I've found that they tend to soak up the shampoo and can leave a slight purple tint.

doglover · 27/12/2012 22:48

Thanks for the tip, FFKK, I'll be careful Smile

It seems to be when you leave it on that it goes purpley. I'm quite fond of that tint, so mine stays on for a good 5-10 mins! And it also seems to have more effect on my hair when I'm due a colour on my hair (white blonde).

Oh, and I just use the twice a week shampoo, not Pro:Voke but a cheapy version. I would see how you go with the daily one first before introducing the brightening one personally.

doglover · 28/12/2012 19:41

Well, I used the twice a week shampoo this morning and am very impressed. No purple tinge! My hair looks really shiny and the various colours are less harsh. Will be using again Smile

it lasts for ages!!

polyhymnia · 28/12/2012 23:03

Aveda Blue Malva is excellent for toning down brassy tones in blonde hair, eg when it's been exposed to too much sun.
