So er... where do I start then?

I've never wore make up before, but I'm feeling old (I'm 23 Blush) and would like to feel less frumpy and crap.

Obviously I can't go from wearing nothing to a full face of make up so I was thinking of starting with my eyes? But I haven't got the foggiest idea how.

Also, what should I be doing regarding moisturising? Please help!!!

23 feels a long time ago to me, so not sure if any use. But I'd start with a trip to Urban Decay and ask them to play around with some of their eyeshadows on you. Their natural coloured Naked sets are brilliant but they have fantastic brights as well. Their eyeliners are really soft and easy to wear.

Mascara - try Max Factor as a cheapo starting point.

Blusher - something dewy and pinkish - Benetint is brilliant, or one of the Max Factor cream blushes.

Start with mascara and some neutral lipcolour/lipgloss.

Then, once you are confident with this look, try some eyeshadow (again, keep it low-key to start, maybe a taupe) or maybe a soft-colour eyeliner on the top lid.

At your age, I had only just started wearing moisturiser, mainly because I was getting dry cheeks in the winter, but you can get away with something fairly light. Try the "young" ranges, like Garnier or Nivea. You don't need to worry about foundation yet.

23!!!!! OLD!

Qvc do really good sets of make up that contain everything you need - often on today's special value.
You can send their stuff back if you don't like it after you've had a play.
They have some really good brands like smash box and bobbi brown.

Thank you! The Urban Decay colours look amazing but I don't think I'm anywhere near confident enough to wear any of them outside of the bathroom! That will be my ultimate aim I think. Grin

Think I'll go for the mascara and lip colour first. I'll see if dh notices!

And yes... I know 23 isn't old really, but I do feel it recently. Sad

And thanks for the tip about QVC corny.

I would start with tinted moisturiser, tinted lip balm/gloss and mascara. I think wearing a base (ie tinted moisturiser or foundation) takes Los of getting used to, so good to start with something light.

Also good to ensure you are wearing warm/cool tones as appropriate for your colouring, as it makes it look more natural.

Youtube has loads of really good makup tutorials you can watch for free. If you google Urban Decay Naked Palette tutorials, then pick the clips where you like the look, you can go from there. The Naked palettes are ace, I don't really use anything else now.

Also the two naked palettes by Urban Decay are neutrals - I wouldn't dare wear the brights in some of their other palettes.
