Show me some pictures of the interweb that sum up your personal style. Do a mix of evening wear, smart casual, workwear, very casual, etc. Pick the kind of stuff you feel you can wear and do wear, (don't fret about whether it fits your budget in RL, just go for the look that would draw you in if you saw it in a shop window.)

Then show me some pictures of what your style would be if you felt you could carry it off size/height wise.

If you are the kind of person who struggles with part 2 on the basis that they can and do wear whatever they want without a second thought then I probably hate you. Grin

If you have certain things you are always drawn to or always avoid, tell me.

I have two styles. My actual style is based around what I think flatters my shape, and my theoretical style is what I would wear, if only I could. I'll do mine later, I have to go out now.

But I always avoid animal prints and asymmetrical things, anything with only one sleeve, and anything with a dropped waist or a puffy, poorly defined waist. I also don't do very short.

I have loads of things that I don't wear as they don't suit even though I'm perfectly happy with my weight. Don't think that being slim means you can wear anything.

Having said that I find that losing weight (only a stone really ) is so liberating. I can fit into anything I'm not worried about covering my bum and I'm comfortable.

Life's too short too hate your body

My shape is pretty much what manufacturer's size tables expect. It's easy for me to find clothes off the rack that fit perfectly. I'm tall, slim and columnar.
But it's a mistake to assume that everything would fit and look good on me - over-slouchy styles, cropped styles, strongly contrasting patterns make me look like a bag lady. My muted and low contrast natural coloring rules out some of the more striking colors I would love to wear.

When I was thinner, everything was always too big - not in a relaxed, cool way, just in a miserable unflattering way. It's a mistake to think that being very thin makes shopping for clothes easier - I always had to have things altered and felt often very frumpy in slightly too big clothes.

I've come a long way and now I know what suits me and looks right on me. The challenge is, my best shapes (fit and flare dresses, A line dresses, lamb shoulder and puff sleeves, long wide turned-up trousers, Chanel-type jackets and suits, anything that shows off my legs) are not always the height of fashion. I tend to buy more classic items because many trendy things don't look right on me. And I struggle with casual clothes.

In theory I could wear one shoulder dresses - in practice I feel ridiculous in them (I just donated one). Animal print, unless something exquisite like YSL, looks campy and desperate on me.

Oh this is interesting.

I have a habit of buying things I think are beautiful - like a work of art, and then feeling too uncomfortable to wear them, because I hate wearing dresses!

Not literally uncomfortable but mentally iykwim? Like I got a beautiful dress in the Hobbs sale that I had been coveting for weeks - and a beautiful bag that goes with it, knowing full well that the occasion on which to wear these items may well never arise.

I just hang them in my room and look at them. It's stupid. they are so lovely though. And they will fit. I just don't think I'll ever wear them.

Mostly I wear kind of darkish, autumnish colours, browns and dark reds and greens and some navy and black. It just happens that way and I feel 'safe' in them. Also jeans when I'm not heavily pregnant. (and actually now that I am)

I never accessorise. It's just a faff and things get in the way/break/fall off...first time I wore a bracelet the other week, it caught on something and broke! But like the clothes, I do have some pretty stuff, it just sits around not being worn.

Oh I like these threads:)

I buy dark jeans or coloured jeans, and I have 3-4 tops short and vest to match in bright colours. I don't wear anything with a high neck or too clingy, but I don't like baggy and loose either. Feet- ballet pumps or sparkly sandals( flat) can't wear heels due to running after dc and always in a rush anyway, plus I drive a lot and can't be fussed with changing.

I like to wear a flower in my hair- I have very thick long wavy hair.

I like coats and jackets to have a shape with a nipped in waist and a collar, fake fur is nice:) I like to wear hats if possible. I don't like baseball caps or trainers/ leggings etc unless I am running or at the gym.

I avoid crop tops, anything logo'd, or sayings on the front, anything tight, horrible material and it must fit and be cut well.

I wear day dresses which are loose ( like ghost) but although I would like a maxi dress I would look prgnt. I have a large bust and slim elsewhere. If I have another baby I would get loads:)

I am a sahm so not bound by work clothes.

I don't think about 2. Much as I am happy with me- no wish to wear anything different. Although if I changed my lifestyle I would wear different things ( the ball on Saturday, a morning on the yacht etc)

Omg I sound like my mum:(

I am short but very slim and very in proportion. I like what I wear in RL: Skinny jeans, cord skirts, jersey pencil skirts, shirts, bretons, fitted cashmere. Lace skater dresses or shorts and opaques if going out. Ankle boots, brogues, wedge trainers.

I suppose I avoid things that I feel don't flatter the shorter person although I like some of them: Wide leg trousers, ankle skimmers, big patterns, Oversize chunky knits, ballet flats.
