Is BB cream going to transform my life?

Or at least my face?

I recklessly abandoned my favorite primer yesterday and bought BB cream. What's the general consensus? Am I going to be a dewy skinned beauty at work tonight? Grin

I am underwhelmed. I tried No 7 BB cream but it's not moisturising enough to work as a moisturiser, and it doesn't provide enough coverage to work as foundation. I end up using moisturiser, then BB cream, then foundation and looked caked.
Not a fan. Maybe other brands are better though?

eatyourveg · 20/12/2012 12:17

Could never bring myself to use BB cream . BB is our house means bottom burp ie fart. Fart cream on my face - no thanks! Xmas Grin

SouthernComforts · 20/12/2012 12:20

Hmm, I shall report back later.

Thanks for that image eat!

Unlikely. Tried a few and been very underwhelmed. What is so different about them? If I want less coverage I just use less of my existing foundation. Don't need a special product for it.

titan · 20/12/2012 12:24

I got some and spread it all over my face the first time. I looked weird and sort of airbrushed! Now I use it a bit like concealer (along with moisturiser, primer and tinted moisturiser - overkill but it feels nice!) I think it depends on the brand as I think some give more coverage than others.

coffeeinbed · 20/12/2012 12:28

No.
But it make make you orange and shiny.

shrimponastick · 20/12/2012 13:03

I was sceptical - I don't like wearing much make up. I tried The Body Shop bb cream. It is more of a tinted moisturiser - but covers well enough.

I don't moisturize first, just bung a little on if I am going out.

valiumredhead · 20/12/2012 13:36

No it will make you orange.

EuroShopperEnergyDrink · 20/12/2012 13:46

Dr Jart BB cream has transformed mine...

Cheaper brands make you an odd pinky orange colour and provide little coverage

DonaAna · 20/12/2012 13:47

Second orange and shiny.

Lottapianos · 20/12/2012 14:02

I love it! Hate heavy coverage and hardly ever wear foundation. I'm currently using the Rimmel one, it's amazing, makes me look really fresh and not at all orange. Also loved the Maybelline one. Not keen on Garnier or Gosh - both too orange for me.

DonaAna · 20/12/2012 14:05

But have to say that Jart is quite good - it's neutral / gray rather than orange, and a beauty blogger friend swears by it.

Labootin · 20/12/2012 14:05

No i think they're way too heavy .. Or the ones I've tried are

I'm always tanned and it still makes me look day glo

I mix 25% foundation to 75% moisturiser

Mumelie · 20/12/2012 14:37

No. I had to mix light and medium Garnier BB cream to get a vaguely normal colour. After a month of use I developed a horrid rash on my cheeks and spots you would not believe!
Oddly not now using it!

BieneMaja · 20/12/2012 15:14

I've got the Clinique one and its too fair for me. Makes me chalky... Also got the garnier one in medium and its too dark Shock

I don't really think it does much for me. It's quite heavy and takes a while to sink in a bit...

MrsSnow · 20/12/2012 15:24

Ok I use BB cream totally the wrong way but I find it works for me.

I put moisturiser on, then primer and then the BB cream. I find it covers pretty well for the whole day and I don't feel it is as heavy as foundation.

I was a bought the Garnier BB cream which is light and works for my skin (medium asian) but then had an excess amount on my hand the other day so rubbed some on to DH's face (with protest) who is milk white and was surprised that it warmed up his skin, didnt make him orange, covered up his blemishes! He promptly walked off to the bathroom and washed it off. BUT the point is it works!

SouthernComforts · 20/12/2012 15:40

Ok, I've just put on moisturiser (less than normal) and BB cream all over and I'm quite impressed.

I've got red patches at the minute and it's done a good job of covering them.

No more shiny than my foundation and I always wear powder anyway.

I'd be quite happy to just add powder, blusher and mascara and go out but I'm going to see what it's like with foundation on top. (My make up needs to last till 1am)

It's Garnier BB cream for sensitive skin, in light.

I've just put 1/4 of the foundation I'd normally wear and I'm pretty pleased with the results.

I have posted before- have a look at Nude Magique by LOreal. Brilliant. Looks like a gritty white paste but I think goes coloured on the skin. I use the fair- I have abandoned my Clinique 24 quid foundation for work- just use the LOreal. I am nearly 42 so not in first flush of youth- it's really good.

izzybobsmum · 20/12/2012 23:15

Another vote for the L'Oreal Nude Magique here. I have fair skin and don't like looking too made up. This BB cream just evens out my skin tone and gives a bit of colour - nothing too heavy or false.

vjg13 · 20/12/2012 23:56

I like the Garnier BB one too but am now tempted by the l'oreal one.

noddyholder · 20/12/2012 23:59

Since I have used one lots f comments re my skin.

LifeIsBetterInFlipFlops · 21/12/2012 00:01

Revlon Photoready is great, on it's own and under foundation.

noddyholder · 21/12/2012 00:02

I mix it half and half with tinted moisturiser or sometime just use a tiny bit as concealer and no other foundatioan

cafecito · 21/12/2012 01:56

what does BB mean? I accidentally left space NK with some costly BB stuff by rodial. I used it a couple of times instead of concealer when I was having a ropey day but it was a bit 'meh' I find all tinted moisturisers etc make my skin worse, I just leave it normally
