I think I am in a bit of a style rut. Not badly dressed - just a bit boring/safe/. Always seem to live in shirt/t shirt, cardigan, skinny jeans and boots. Quite like my look but want to be just a little more...... "together" I guess!! Tell me what you're wearing that is more together than me. Thank you.

OP posts:

LOVE the sound of snakeskin shirt-dress (I don't really like other animal prints).

Another one who avoids black - navy and grey are much more interesting and flattering neutrals.

Has the OP come back? Have we scared her off with our directional outfits? Or is she out shopping do you think?

MordionAgenos · 21/12/2012 11:09

Cory :( If it helps, I burn the minute the sun peeps out from behind a cloud. I burn when there isn't even any sun.

Corygal · 21/12/2012 11:28

Mordion, but you have the porcelain complexion of an elfin queen, you know you do.

LALA - Talking of style matters, I hope you've spent a lot on my birthday presents. In confident expectation, I plan to arrive in Nandos tomorrow entirely nude. Just so you know.

What does anyone think of this for a Xmas present for an extra-special MNétter

It talks!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/12/2012 11:30

I've got a snakeskin print dress (well it's dd1's really but I steal it a lot!). It cost about tuppence ha'penny from H&M and is absolutely bloomin' brilliant.

I'm currently letting the side down in skinnies and a hoodie but I will dress up a bit later to go out. Liking the sound of the fleece lined tights too - might nip to M&S later to grab some.

Now, what shall I wear tonight?

Snake print dress as above, with opaques, heeled ankle boots and biker jacket?
Skinnies, long silk blouse and silk mix longline sleeveless cardi thing again with ankle boots?
Or something else? Only going to the cinema and footwear needs to be relatively comfortable as we'll be walking to the train station and back - so my lovely platforms are out.

lalalonglegs · 21/12/2012 11:39

Cory completely nude is fine. Which bit of you do you want to cover up with the iTunes voucher?

MordionAgenos · 21/12/2012 11:41

I have a very posh party tonight. At a big grand hotel in Park Lane. I do not do party wear well. I always look like hideousness no matter what I wear. I could post a picture of the dress I will be wearing (which is black) because I bought it from ASOS so obviously I could give a link. But I am scared to since I have SEEN these threads in style and beauty before where people post pictures of dresses and everyone says they are hideous - and since I'm here in London and not at home in Devon I cannot not wear this dress, I am stuck with wearing it no matter what. I do think it's alright though. Not fabulous, but you know. OK.

It's long and black and I might wear it with my biker boots which are warm and I can walk in them or I might wear it with high heeled shoey boots/booty shoes which are open toed so I'd have to wear leggings instead of fleecy tights. Can't decide.

Corygal · 21/12/2012 11:50

Come on Mordion, Park Lane is brillo and I bet you will look lovely. Show us the dress. Without sight, I'm saying biker boots.

As you can see, the reality of MN going out is a local Nandos, where I will rush in late bursting with glee in humorous slippers before Lala points them out, suggests I sit down, and rips open the Buy One Get One Free bag from New Look kid's department.

noddyholder · 21/12/2012 11:52

Gap track suit ugg boots bobble hat Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/12/2012 11:53

No to biker boots. Taxi to Park Lane and high, high heels. And no leggings - champagne and dancing to keep you warm!

Corygal · 21/12/2012 11:57

Lala - not a merkin?! Really!!!?? Way cool, THE ONLY retro look to rock. Awww..

Mordion - Now I think about it, the last time I was at the Dorchester I actually felt underdressed, which is rare. Wear heels but only if you can sit down - those hotels always have a mile-long trek to the loos, you almost need crampons.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 21/12/2012 12:28

I love that dress

FellatioNelson · 21/12/2012 12:35

Shock Do you really AF? I think it's grim! Like, seriously, seriously awful. Grin

MordionAgenos · 21/12/2012 12:37

See, that;s why I didn't want to post the link. Cheers Fellatio I hope your Xmas is as good as your screen name. :(

lalalonglegs · 21/12/2012 12:39

Mordion - great dress. I would wear it with biker boots any place except posh hotel in Park Lane. Smart shoe-boots would work if you really can't face high heels. Have fun.

MordionAgenos · 21/12/2012 12:42

Thanks Lala, Anyfucker - sadly as is always the way I am not convinced it is seriously seriously awful. :( Am probably going to pretend to be sick and not go. Have just done some strategic fake coughing as I walked past senior partner;s office.

Curtsey · 21/12/2012 12:42

Mordion- you'll look great. Bring every single ounce of attitude you possess and definitely wear with open shoe boots (but no tights). I like it. Enjoy!

MordionAgenos · 21/12/2012 12:42

Sorry - now convinced. :(

mirpuppet · 21/12/2012 12:45

No to biker boot with the dress. Do high heels.

FellatioNelson · 21/12/2012 12:45

OMFG I am SOOO sorry. I didn't read the thread properly and I thought you were suggesting it to the person who as going to a party. I am so ashamed and I apologise profusely. BlushSad

Honestly, its not my thing (obviously) but I have very boring, non-adventurous taste and I was just imagining how something would look like that on me, and I am short and fat, so it would be a disaster.

I am soooo sorry. ThanksBlush

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/12/2012 12:47

I think the dress could look great - it's bonkers but I like bonkers. Yes to shoe boots if they are high (But NO to leggings). Are you wearing it belted? Hair up or down? Make up? The main thing will be to avoid looking overly goth or veering towards Widow Twanky, neither of which I'm sure you'll do!

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 21/12/2012 12:49

Aww no, you must still go

If you are a slightly edgy type, you will look great

I wouldn't as I am more of a conventional type (wrt hair, makeup etc)

FellatioNelson · 21/12/2012 12:55

Oh Fuck. Mordion I am appalled at myself, and I would NEVER have said such an insensitive thing if I had actually read your post properly. The fact that you might wear it with biker boots tells me that you are the type who could carry off something very 'out there' and fashion forwards, which I never could, so PLEASE go, and please wear it with chutzpah and enjoy yourself. I am so truly sorry.

FellatioNelson · 21/12/2012 12:56

fashion forward, not forwards. Bloody autocorrect hates me as well. Sad
