Grey hair. What should/can I do?

I'm going grey. A few strands but I don't like it and obviously it's going to accelerate. What are my options? I cannot afford salons so that's out. It needs to be as easy as possible because I am fairly low maintenance. But low maintenance and grey hair is not a good look.

It's very tempting, it's just I might end up with a colour that's a bit close to DDs

I have found a salon where I am that do training days (usually day times so no good if you work). The students work full time in the salon for a year and assist every day except their training day where they are fully supervised. It takes a bit longer than a qualified colourist but worth it as only £10. I've never had any problems and great thing is they do what you want, highlights, tint etc

I use Lush henna too - have been using it for around a year now. It's fab. The first time I used it I found it a bit difficult (have home coloured for years, also had salon high/low lights for years before that), but realised that the misture has to be fairly runny and to keep it warm - I sit the mising bowl on a pan of boiling water. I don't bother grating it any more, just cut the squares up into small pieces and stir them until they dissolve.

I think there is a video of how to do it on youtube. I try to leave it on for around 3 hours (I am quite grey), but if I'm in a rush then one and a half hours does the job, although I don't think the coverage on the grey would be good enough to just leave it on for that amount of time, every time.

As others have said, the condition it leaves your hair in is great. I have used all of their colours and I'm currently using a mix of 2 squares of marron and 1 square of noir, which gives me a lovely dark red/brown.

I think that Lush will put it on for you too - they have a pamper evening every month apparently, where you pay a small amount (maybe £2?) and they put the henna on for you. You stick a hat on top and go home with it on and wash it off when you are ready.

I find the problem with the henna is getting it right into the roots, for the most part it doesn't matter as I stick close to my natural colour (can't see it growing out either) but on the greys (haven't got any patches, just isolated ones at the mo) I sometimes realise that the henna hasn't coloured the last cm or so. I have bought a hair dye brush for next time. Was hoping to do it this week but haven't got round to it yet.

WhoKnows that was my problem the first time I used it. I have found that having the mixture fairly runny and keeping it hot makes it much easier to get it right in to the roots. Also, I start at the back at the bottom and work up in small sections as once it has been on a minute or two it is harder to move around, so that way I am layering each 'just done' section over the top of a previously done one.

Hi Agatha - thanks, that's kind of what I do too, I clip it all on top of my head and let down one layer at a time to cover it. I've been using it for years but it's only since the greys started appearing that I realised it wasn't getting right to the roots, also I have grown my hair a lot, it was definitely easier when it was short.
