Rosacea & running

Does anyone have any experience of rosacea? Not sure if it's definitely what I've got, but it matches the descriptions and triggers. I've always suffered from a bright red face when I have a drink, especially red wine. I also do a lot of running, and usually in the winter my face gets very dry and sore. I wear suncream when I run in the summer, but not in the winter (it's dark!)

At the moment though I have a band of permanently red and blotchy skin and it looks horrible, and feels a bit hot to the touch. I have a colleague with very bad rosacea and she said it looks like hers did to start with.

I have googled, and it seems to fit. Problem is, internet says to avoid triggers, but if my trigger is running, I'm not prepared to avoid. It's the only thing keeping me sane and thin (ish!)

Anyone suffered from this? Any suggestions of moisturiser / barrier cream? Is it worth a GP visit?

Thanks in advance! x

That's why I stopped running.
I think barrier cream makes it worse though - it creates more heat on the skin.

I use Bare Minerals bisque concealor, used it for over 2 years now and my skin has improved along with using the aloe range at The Body Shop. I would see the GP if it is really bad as you might need something prescribed.

I used to get this badly - it got worse in the change of seasons and after showering/bathing. I hardly ever suffer now. I also run.
I used Dr Hauska Rose day cream along with their cleanser (in a tube, looks kinda gritty) and toner and this helped (I used an Origin's regime on recommendation, but that made it worse). Now it seems to have cleared up I can use whatever. I didn't change anything else (e.g. diet)

I would visit a dermatologist. The hot feeling is some type of inflammation, you might want to have it seen.

I have mild rosacea - would never wash my face in the morning, splashing with water makes it bright red and blotchy.
I use La Roche Posay products and foundation to even out my skin tone.
My symptoms are climate-dependent - nose and cheeks flare up during harsh Nordic winters. When I lived in the Tropics/ now in balmy Italy I'm symptom free.

I have it like u describe I swear by The Kalme range from www.skinshop.co.uk I use the cream cleanser and the undercoat (and a different brand of suncream) they both really helped to cool my face down. It still gets red after running but calms down much quicker

Oh interesting, colloidal silver is fantastic stuff ime, I use the spray, might invest in some cream.

Go and see a dermatologist and ask for a prescription of MetroGel or Rozex (different brand names for the same Galderma product).
