Clothes for a long thin baby?

Hello, I think the title says it all! DD is long and thin! Mothercare is hilariously baggy if it fits her lengthwise and ditto John Lewis. Jojo looks better in newborn size but she's already stubbing her toes in them and worried that when she inevitably has to go up a size we'll be baggy again.... She's all leg, still just below 7 lbs!!!!

H and M are great for long leg lengths, my DD was all legs! They tend to be long in body too so I had to size down. She wore 4-6 month bodysuits at 9 months. She's now 19 months and wearing 12-18 leggings as 18-24 are ridiculously long! She's 99th centile for height still so they are seriously long legged. HTH

French clothes eg Dpam, always suited by slender girls- both as babes and little ones.

booksandchoc · 18/12/2012 12:35

Dd is the same, 75th for length, 25th for weight. I've found tesco sleep suits are nice and long, not too baggy. I've stopped trying to put her in dresses. They end up too short or too baggy. I've started putting her in skirts with matching top and tights. Gap tights are long, good fit on dd anyway

Not sure about girls, but H&M for my skinny son.
And then when she gets bigger, adjustable waists are your friend!

Gap are good. If you're feeling flush or are willing to brave New Year sales. Petit Bateau are good for long thin children.

duvetfan · 18/12/2012 13:37

I have a similar problem with my ds. I also like Tesco, ,next nd H &M. He also has ridiculously long feet which doesn't help the sleepsuit issue. Good luck and congratulations on your baby. :)

Tesco sleepsuit/babygros are all slim fit (if there is such a thing for babies!) I found any other shops' were top baggy. Although someone bought DS3 some from Next and they are not as baggy as they used to be.

JRsandCoffee · 18/12/2012 22:27

Thank you for all the replies, off to the shops with me, rumour has it that you sometimes get petit bateau in TK Maxx so will maybe try there as well and will brave the big Tesco! Thanks again Smile

I was going to come on here and say Tesco, but seems like many have beaten me to it. My DS is 99% for height, and 50% for weight, Tesco clothes seem to fit quite well IMO.

MimsyBorogroves · 18/12/2012 23:20

Yes, tesco are good.

Sainsburys also come up long (particularly in trousers) but I find that waists can be quite baggy.

Petit Bateau - pricey but nice. Their vests are always long and thin. Sizing is odd though, I think you generally have to order large (eg order 2yr size if you have a 1 year old).

cloutiedumpling · 19/12/2012 12:50

I'd avoid Asda. I've always found their sizes generous in every dimension.

DeathMetalMum · 19/12/2012 20:30

I found george/asda perfect for my long slim dd. Second tesco though I do find tescos leggings sometimes fall down when the size below is too short.
