So. I actually bought a ball dress for £10 in Debenhams, it fits really nicely, and was reduced from £60! It is suitable for weddings as well and I am going to one this summer so...
Thanks for the kind offers of loans, but I can afford £10 and the dress is gorgeous Smile

It looks pretty much like this.
\link{http://www.bridesave.com/search/index.cfm?action=details&product_id=13960\dress} but its actually lilac, and the ribbon around the waist is lilac too.

Am having my hair like \link{http://www.movingmakeup.co.uk/images/jeanhair.jpg\this}

What to wear with it; shoes, jewellery, bag, wrap/shawl? It was dead cold last year so I need something to keep me warm any ideas?

TIA!

I would go for a clutch bag if you can get it, silver strappy shoes if you can't get lilac. Not too high a heel, maybe 2 inches. Or little mule type sandals would be lovely. If you can get a piece of ribbon to match the dress, I'd put something on that as a necklace. Are you having the little roses in your hair because you could have your accessories to match them.

It is a beautiful dress and I'm dead jealous.

But where to get the sandals from, all the ones i have seen are mega sky scrapers. I think I may abandon my no heels rule for this dress but am strugeeling to fine the right shoes.

I love the idea of a ribbon as a necklace!

Cod - hair won't have flowers in and i have had something similar before and it is quite nice actually, can't curl my hair and it doesn't hold most styles, it won't be as neat as that, there are usually some spikey bits falling out! Had the plait thingy done last yr and it fell out Sad
Am going with friend so she will restrain me, usually spend most of the time helping her get the style she wants!

Wore a v similar outfit myself last year - lilac dress, silver shoes & bag, long sparkly earrings (but dress was halterneck so no necklace allowed).
Agree hair looks a little bridal - would move 'do to back of head rather than top myself - more chignonny and less, um, vertical, but you know what suits you and the occasion.

shoes - second the silver idea, Debenhams have some good ones at the moment. Could wear ballet flats if you have really, really thin legs, but even a kitten heel would be better.
bag - silver clutch to match shoes - try Accesorize - \link{http://store.monsoon.co.uk/catalog/Welcome?pid=8739\plain} or \link{http://store.monsoon.co.uk/catalog/Welcome?pid=10208\sequinned}.
wrap - had exactly the same dilemma myself last year - ended up buying 3m of silvery crushed velvet from a fabric shop and sewing the wrong sides together to make an easy, cheap, matching wrap. Was cold then too!
Like ribbon necklace idea but sparkly silver would work too and might look more eveningy - save ribbon for daywear?

MrsB I love the plain clutch bag! Fab.

The hair will be less vertical, more on the back of my head!!
