Where can I get really cool ones?

I've found really nice trendy ones in Paris - in fact, they always seem to have good ones in France and Italy - (not very helpful unless you're going there soon), but also in my local independent chemists (not the usual boring metal ones such as you get in Boots).

Well funnily enough no, I'm not going to Paris or Milan any time soon .
So failing that, what else is there apart from Boots?

Sorry, I really did track my latest and favourite ones ones down in my local London chemists, which also sells cosmetics and skin care (Clarins, Vichy) etc. I just checked in any reasonably upmarket shops of that sort until I found them. Some independent opticians will also have interesting ones.

Independent optometrists usually have a better selection of frames than high street chains. Alan Mikli and Face a Face are 2 french brands that have very cool frames.

Julia thank you, some of those look really nice. I guess I just need to find a local optometrist then and see what they have. I haven't had my eyes tested yet, I just know I have presbyopia. So what happens if I go to an optometrist, they check my eyesight and then I don't like any of the frames they offer?

Just say you can't decide and ask them for a copy of your prescription. People do buy glasses online, but as a long time spectacle wearer (and opticians daughter) I wouldn't do this as the fit of your glasses is so important. If they don't fit correctly you'll be looking out of the wrong part of the lens and the prescription won't be correct.

So, get your eyes tested, get a copy of your prescription and go to lots of opticians until you find a pair that you like.
