Dry flaky skin on face - help needed! Please!

Looking for recommendations for a day and night cream for my dry flaky face. Using Argan oil which was helpful initially but now despite using this with moisturiser my skin is still dry on my cheeks and nose. Hate it as it makes me look older than I am. Looking for recommendations but only use natural products i.e. no parabens, mineral oils etc. Thank you!

Do you exfoliate? I suffer from dry skin and use a gentle exfoliate twice a week (an Aveda one). I use Decleor Aromessence Iris and the Elemis Pro Collagen range.

Actually just saw you only use natural ranges. Have you tried Liz Earle?

georgie22 · 02/12/2012 22:50

Thanks lucidlady - I do exfoliate regularly. Have used Liz Earle in the past but it's actually not that natural and does contain parabens. Oh well will keep looking.

I have very sensitive skin and eczema, when my skin is bad the only cream I can use is hopes relief cream. You get it from health food shops

cilverangel · 02/12/2012 23:48

have you tried Aloe vera products if you are going for natural products

valiumredhead · 03/12/2012 08:21

You need the Aloe range from The Body Shop - amazing stuff and cheap if you order on line as they always have discounts. My skin has been fantastic the last 6 months and it's down to this range.

valiumredhead · 03/12/2012 08:21

Oh and it's FAR superior to Liz Earle products imo.

Is it just dry or is it eczema?

I find Clinique good and when I had severe facial eczema it didn't sting.
I use the Youth Surge or Super Defense.

You could try the Avene range or one of the ranges for really dry allergy type skin such as Eucerin. At Boots.

Also have a look at your fiet- are you getting enough Omega 3 from oily fish 2-3 x a week, almonds, green veg and cutting out too much sugar and alcohol?

I have dry patches/excema on my hands and face. I use Dr Hauska rose day cream light on my face, the non-light version is thicker and greasier but is probably better for dryer skin. It doesn't sting and does not include parabens. linky

You can put the rejuvinating or soothing Dr hauschka face mask on under your moisturiser and leave it on all day for non-stop treatment. I find this really useful in the winter (especially week before xmas party).

At night I use an Origins night cream which has chamomile in it (?Night Health - lasts ages).
Aveeno is good too. I mainly use it on my hands. I have a sample of the Clinique stuff so will have a go with that this eve.

I agree with Merlinswife re fish oil. I take supplement of this too. (not managed to cut out sugar and alcohol sadly)

Thanks for the advice. It is dry skin rather than eczema. I probably do need to increase my Omega 3 intake (although cutting back on alcolhol is probably a step too far)! I only usually have a glass of wine a day and do have a few alcohol free days each week so not too bad. Will have a look at your suggestions - thanks again!
