right having plucked em for nigh on 34 years (gulp) I am going to Let My Eyebrows Grow In. I spend so much time removing hair from my face these days, its ridiculous. Decided to not bother with the eyebrows for a month or so and see how it goes. Don't fear, I will do the middle of my monobrow as we don't want to give children nightmares do we?
A scary time so can my hand be held please.

Hi, I'm probably about 2 months into leaving my eyebrows to grow out and results are still very patchy. I'm determined to keep going though, if they're still patchy after a year I think I'll have to accept that I've damaged them beyond repair Sad I'd be interested to hear about your progress.

IAmSheWhoMustBeObeyed · 02/12/2012 18:50

Patchy? I hadn't considered whether they would be patchy. I only curse that the damn things haven't given up yet.
So have you had comments, screams, odd looks or anything?

Hmmm, no comments, but I am a sahm with no life... dd is 16months so have probably spent most of that time looking a bit of an unkempt mess anyway. I find I do look better if I bother with my hair and makeup though, I think it makes the eyebrows look deliberate as I'm obviously making an effort in other areas iyswim.

I do genuinely think it looks worse to me than to others who hopefully aren't studying my face as much. Oh and I do have a bit of a fringe that comes to just under my brows, which probably helps.

Unfortunately I have heard that eyebrow hairs can often never come back, I'm hoping that's not the case for me. Wish I'd never started plucking mine too thin in the '90s.

SunshineOutdoors · 02/12/2012 19:02

Worried now that the complete absence of any comments means it looks so bad people don't want to mention it.

Iam are your eyebrows dark or fair?

IAmSheWhoMustBeObeyed · 02/12/2012 19:11

Dark eyebrows, short hair, no fringe, nowhere to hide! Am on public display working in a brightly lit shop too. Oh god.

Get a good eyebrow pencil. I let mine grow after late nineties exuberance and they took a good three months earlier this year to grow back.

SunshineOutdoors · 02/12/2012 19:25

I've heard a combination of concealer on bits that are too patchy to be eyebrows yet and defining what is there with pencil or powder can work ok.

blondiep14 · 02/12/2012 19:30

I let mine grow back and now have them waxed and tinted every month.
The tint fills in any sparse areas and makes them look fuller.

Was worth going thru the muppet stage to finally have groomed (in comparison at least!) rather than v over-plucked brows.

Tough it out Grin

greenhill · 02/12/2012 19:48

I've let mine grow back completely, it took hardly any time at all.
Mine look like Kiera Knightley's as they are full and black.

I'm still wondering whether to have them re-shaped before Christmas as I have had them threaded every couple of months to re-shape my brow, in the past.

SunshineOutdoors · 02/12/2012 20:02

Erm, did it take anyone a lot longer than 2 months, or am I flogging a dead horse?

IAmSheWhoMustBeObeyed · 02/12/2012 22:41

Anyone brave enough to allow hairs in the middle bit?
And yes to an eyebrow pencil- of course! Hadn't thought of that.

Do Not Touch (other than brow powder) for 2 months. Then book a threading & tinting appointment. Explain that you are growing them & they are to leave two rows alone during the thread
It can take a wee while, but persevere, they will come back

MrsHoolie · 02/12/2012 23:04

I grew mine a few months ago on orders from the woman who does my threading. They now look so much better,I had been over plucking for 20 years.
If you can bear it leave at least a month, the shape they can achieve with threading is great even if you can't cope and have to go for an interim tidy up.

EdwardtheEagle · 03/12/2012 05:33

I don't think you need to not touch totally - if there's a hair growing right in the middle or on the outside where you deffo don't want it, whip it out!!!!

IAmSheWhoMustBeObeyed · 03/12/2012 21:00

Any recommendations for eyebrow brushes and powder? Otherwise I am going into superdrug and hoping for the best.
