Replacing a lost earring

I've been a complete idiot. Wore a pair of earrings with great sentimental value (left to me by my late aunt) & realised that I've lost one in the street. I've been out for the last three hours trying to find it. I'm so upset to have lost it - especially as I thought 'If I lost these, I'd be so upset' when I put them on this evening. See? Bloody idiot.

So at least I have one of my aunt's earrings left. Is there any point in approaching a jeweller and asking them to copy it? (It's a dangling emerald cut citrine, set in old gold). Has anyone any tips? I thought at least that way, I'd be able to wear something of my aunt's.

Really, really trivial question I know but I'm just so bloody upset with myself.

It's not stupid or trivial and you are not an idiot.

I would put up some posters and tell the police station as it might get handed in.

You can definitely go to a jewelers and see about getting it copied or having it adapted so that it could be a necklace or a brooch.

Thank you, Savoy. That's a great idea. I've done a poster but didn't think about the police. Felt pathetic out there in the dark looking for it & trying not to snivel when people asked what I was doing.

Just so bloody cross with myself for wearing it when I had a feeling I'd lose it. That was her telling me not to wasn't it? I don't think she'd have been surprised that I went and wore it anyway..
