Do any of you feel like writing "The Idiot's Guide to False Eyelashes" for me?

Please help!

I'm in a show in a couple of weeks and I'm expected to wear false eyelashes. I have never worn false eyelashes in my life, but I though "loads of people do, how hard can it be?"

I've bought a pair to practise with and I can't do it I end up with a huge gap between my eyelashes and the false ones, especially at the outside edge.

Also, I don't really understand how to put make up on when I'm using them. Usually I'd do eyeliner first, then eyeshadow before mascara, so if any powder drops on them it doesn't matter. But you wouldn't wear mascara with false lashes (or do you put it on your own first? I don't have a clue) so what order should it be?

Any tips, tricks and step-by-steps order of what to do or an offer to come and stick the things on for me! would be massively appreciated!

Right.

Eyeliner and eyeshadow first, liquid best, not pencil, as pencil doesn't adhere well. Mascara on own lashes so if they're lighter than the fakes you can't see them.

Trim false lashes to fit, some people's eyes are wider than others, the strip needs to be the same length as the line of your own lashes.

Glueing. Very important. Put glue on edge of strip, ie at the ends of the lashes, rather than applying it at 90 degrees. If you put glue on at 90 degrees you will look either like a cow, or like a spider has died on your face. Leave to go a little tacky.

Application. Steady hand and slow breathing required. Press the inner edge on first, right at the base of your own lashes. Follow outwards with pressing motion. When you get three quarters of way along, don't follow right by lash line but up a little, this will open the eye in the way that a flick of eyeliner does. (This is also why you need eyeliner on first, so tiny gap is covered).

While glue dries give an occasional very gentle push upwards to stop droop.

Go to a salona nd get the ones they glue to your lashes - don't look as hideous as false lashes and are no hassle at all!

It also helps if you have something like a kirby grip that you can use to press along with, rather than fingers (if yours are as chubby as mine).

Thank you, I will have a try at doing them like that Smile

MadameCastafiore, it's tempting, but these are going to be coloured or silver (!).

get someone else to do these - I use a tweezer to hold the lashes and press these down when I am doing other people's lashes (I don't wear these myself)
