Just that really - our Christmas is generally casual but I like to dress up a little more than usual whilst leaving enough room for a giant dinner

Please can I steal your ideas?

I will wear pj's for as long as possible, but feel slightly uncomfortable having a glass of something with them on:) we might be going for lunch so a dress that is loose:) then home and jeans and a top.

A Christmas t shirt would be nice, any ideas?

Oh, I have a mrs Santa dress up I put on for present opening (blush) its for the dcs.....

I have just ordered this in black and grey to go with the black coated super slim jeans from mango. Hoping it's my Christmas day outfit although maybe a bit dull?

Just lost the last 2lbs of 3.5 stone of baby weight so I'm updating the wardrobe Smile

Oh and kurt Geiger dahlia heels to go with it, they're my Christmas present from my mum. not sure how long I'll be wearing them with a 3 year old and 6 month old to look after but will be nice to wear heels for the first time in 15 months!

I might have to get something new.

I can't think of any dresses suitable for summer weather in my wardrobe. Hmm. Black may be too much.

Lavender there is a Christmas t shirt that keeps getting pinned on Pinterest. I can't link on phone but it says 'Merry Christmas Ya Filthy Animal!' On it, a la Home Alone. I want that!

Congrats on shifting that 3.5 stone Downby

I will probably wear a wooly dress with boots during the day- church is cold! We have Christmas dinner in evening, and dress up- men in black tie so ive got an excuse to wear my new full length sparkly navy dress yippee!
(totally outing myself to anyone who knows my family!)

I tend to wear a comfortable dress and heels. I like to dress up a little bit.

I got this the other day for the DDs www.petit-bateau.fr/e-shop/product/32813/8C7/robe-mariniere-fille-en-double-jersey.html and for myself this www.petit-bateau.fr/e-shop/product/32509/3H8/t-shirt-ml-femme-a-rayure-placee-mariniere-lurex.html but it's a tunic dress not the top which i shall wear with opaque black tights and my biker boots for comfort.. lovely and shiney but not too hit you in the eye, i even got the scarf for DH!
We shall be cheesy family overkill this year and i don't care Grin

Am confused at the woollen dress people - don't you get hot and itchy? I can't stand wool on the skin at the best of times and on Christmas Day with cooking, eating, drinking, fire/heating, games, etc doesn't it end up a bit rancid?

Just the thought of cooking in one - doesn't the steam and the cooking smells get trapped in it? So all you can smell is sprouts all day long?

Not that I want to put anyone off their outfit, which I'm sure will look lovely.

I shall be wearing this... Dress

I bought it in the spring but haven't worn it much since, but I love it. I'll wear it with pearls and my nude heels.

putonyourredshoes I wear a top under woollen dress- and don't get hot as church & parents house (where we'll be) are cold. I don't cook - my mum does, and the eating bit is all in evening when my dress will be definitely not wool but glam!

putonyourredshoes · 23/11/2012 18:21

sparkling - sounds like you have your day sorted! Changing to glam definitely rules out sprout smell!

disclaimer: really like sprouts, especially with chestnuts and chestnuts don't smell at all.

I like to get dressed up for Christmas Lunch, however I am also the cook. I do the changing thing, too - pyjamas to finish off the cooking, then shower and change into a glam dress and heels. Not sure what I am going to wear this year - might have to go shopping Grin.

I love dressing up for xmas day wether Im at home or visiting. Do people who wear p.j's all day actually wash and do they wear knickers and bra underneath and Do their partners do the same?

I don't see the point on putting on more than comfrey clothes as I would feel odd wearing a dress without shoes.

I know what you mean Glitknit it's not quite the same wearing a dress, black tights and my ugg-style slippers...

I suppose some spangly ballet flats could be the answer?

Last year, pyjamas all day which was bliss. This year, leggings and a tunic as we'll be in the car for 3 hours, then at my parents for whom dressing up is a foreign concept. My dad normally holds his trousers up with binder twine.

Ooh, I haven't even thought about it! Current smart/casual favourites of leather leggings and/or merino tunic dress thing will be way too hot.

I feel some emergency shopping coming on...
