Hair oils - can they dry your hair out even more???

So I've been using the loreal extraordinary oil on my hair before blow drying and although my hair feels nice & soft straight after, in the morning my hair, at the ends feel rough, dry and almost sticky! It was the same with the Lee Stafford Argan oil. I've also used the loreal oil on dry ends. All I want is a product to apply to wet hair before I blow dry to protect it & then a serum to apply to the ends when dry to tame the frizz/ dryness. Then a heat protection spray if I decide to straighten my hair.

I use to use Boots expert heat protection spray & heat taming serum they were brilliant. But they've been discontinued for a while now. So far I've tried Vo5 spray and the serum which isn't too bad and I'm on Pantene heat spray - awful and the spilt end serum - ok.

Any ideas? I'm on a budget so no big brand salon names unfortunately!!!

I swear by Moroccan oil. It has transformed my hair and doesn't make it dry or sticky at all. It is expensive at around £30 but one bottle lasts for months and months as you need to use just a small amount so I actually think it is good value for money.

I'm not keen on the Extraordinary Oil either, I think it contains a lot of silicones which can build up on the hair.

I prefer this www.amazon.co.uk/Matrix-Biolage-Delicate-Organic-Certified/dp/B002MUZFQU/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1353418717&sr=8-11 my hair actually seems to absorb it rather than it just sitting on my hair.

I'm still looking for a good heat protection product though.

Check the ingredients. You can buy pure moroccan /argan oil which is lovely. A lot of the stuff sold in the mainstream shops has lots of other stuff added to it, in particular silicone which isn't great for your hair.

It's also worth saying that my hairdresser told me that there was no need to use a heat protection spray when using Moroccan oil as it protects the hair as well. I've certainly not noticed my hair drying out.

The thing is that extraordinary oil isnt actually oil at all, its silicone. Its a bit tricky as the ingredients dont end in -cone which usually silicones do, but the main ingredient is in fact a silicone type thing, Nice for straight hair maybe but turned my curls into limp, dry feeling fluff
