Would you wear boots for a wedding?

Tomorrow. Have totally failed to find any shoes in time. I hate my feet.

So I've got (a) open-toe wedges that come off (b) beautiful T-bar shoes in perfect colour that make me tower over DP which I hate and (c) a selection of boots. Correct colours, quite funky looking, elegant, two pairs ankle, one pair long. To go with long-sleeved knee-length grey lace dress.

Only a morning, small, informal family wedding. Just somehow feels wrong, like boots should be for normal daywear. WWYD?

I'd wear the T bars and buy DH a stovepipe hat.

Oh he would LOVE that, I wish I'd thought of that!

What do they look like with the dress ? You could wear the shoes for the photos etc and the boots later ?

I was forced to wear boots to a wedding this year as when I went to pack my dress and shoes - last worn to a wedding in 2011 - there was only one shoe. I just had no time to buy more shoes and nothing else would work with the dress. It looked fine, they were lovely boots, it was a Spring wedding so a chilly day (don't know what I would have done in summer) and they went with my dress.

I still haven't found my missing shoe. I'm not at all sure that I returned from the last wedding with both. It was lively.

If the boots go and look good with the dress, then yes I'd wear them. I went to a wedding the other weekend (not an overly formal one, but still a standard church wedding) and lots of people were wearing nice, heeled ankle boots. I wore black suede ones with a low heel and opaque black tights and they actually looked better with my dress than the high heeled courts I'd planned on wearing. Definitely less smart though, if that's an issue.

Sorry, just noticed it's not a really smart wedding. In that case wear boots if you want to!

I've just tried the black patent ankle boots on with it and they look ok, not great but respectably ok. Better than worrying about shoes falling off or feeling like Mrs Big Friendly Lady Giant.

AND some black Clarks shoes lurking in the wardrobe that I'd written off as too worky look surprisingly good! So think I might plan to wear those, aspire to wear the T-bars and have the boots as back-up. Which means my suitcase (it is overnight) will be half shoes. Never knowingly undershod.
