Aveda Highlights, are they worth it!

I have highlights to take me from mousy brown to blonde. My hair is in such bad condition .

Have heard good things about aveda salons? Are they worth the money . Actually not much more than where I go ,

Ive been having my hair doen at Aveda salon for last 5 years and Id never go to any other salon. I love it, my hair is in lovely condition and Im having it done every 8 weeks, after each session it feels like my hair went on holidays :))
I love Aveda products too:)
Just to add my hair is very thick and and despite all the colouring it still very strong and shiny...I remember once a woman sitting behind me in a bus asked me where do i get my hair done :)

Thanks , I get mine done every six weeks . I have used aveda hair products before, although I think I prefer redken. Will see if I can get an appointment

After years of high lighting, i had an allergic reaction to the colour and ended up in a & . while my face was ballooning and my throat was tightning all i thought about( how shallow) was that i would never be able to colour my hair again. The salon took no interest in my situation. I thought my life was going down the path of gry hair and wrinkles, i googled many poduct and decided to try aveda. 2years on i could be a pin up girl for them ( possily they wouldnt agree to. 44 year old slighly podgy lady) but i love their proucts and also the salons. Really helpfull and considerate of my worries. Great colours without the worry of all those chemicals. Be warned though if you do buy products they are of such high quality a little goes a long way.

Don't think Aveda is any better than where I went before - Vidal Sassoon, only left Vidal because their prices went up every time I went!

Do you really have highlights done every 6 weeks? That is why your hair is in such bad condition. My hairdresser (Aveda) says you shouldn't have highlights done anymore often than 3 or 4 times a year!

My roots would be awful if I left them that long. I don't have a full head every six weeks though.

So much money though every year on highlights - just T-section highlights at my Aveda salon starts at £42, so do that every 6 weeks and that's £364 a year - almost a pound a day! Are you sure you couldn't go back to your natural colour. Anyway, I digress.

I can really recommend Philip Kingsley Elasticizer. A deep conditioning treatment. I use it a couple of days before I'm having highlights done and then a couple of days after aswell.

I may ask them about a half way mark between my natural and current colour .

I do have a t section most times, with just a full head about every third visit . I am happy to pay a pound a day to not look full and mousy ,

I will investigate the conditioner , I find redken very good and I alternate with Aussie shampoo which is also good. I tried Liz Earle and was very disappointed by it

Agree about Liz Earle, really rubbish haircare.

I've just started using a L'Oreal shampoo and conditioner, more natural with less parabens etc and has some botanical oils in it that seems really good, can recommend that and it's not too expensive, £6 ish I think from Boots and often on 3 for 2.
