Looking for a long, warm winter coat for DD.

I have a fabulous crag hoppers winter coat, it's long, waterproof, quilted lining, aquadry and comes nearly down to my knees. It's long enough to wear with all my tunic dress things as they don't stick out at the bottom and has a huge, fabulous hood with a peak. I hardly know what the weather's doing when I wear it because it's so snug, warm, cosy and huge. It's perfect.
I'm now trying to find one for my 7YO DD. I can't find anything like it in chdren's sizes despite there being many in griwn ups sizes. Can anyone help?

Well, they are not exactly inexpensive, but have you tried Barbour ?

It's also worth having a look in an equestrian or ski shop if you have one nearby - they often have good sales on too.

I think monsoon do a long coat for girls, worth a look.

Ooh, the Barbour Outlaw one is lovely and would be perfect though the price is slightly in my dreams . Had a quick look on the monsoon website too, lots of wool coats, not sure about wool for filthy Tom boy type! Will go into the shop and check out their long puffa coat. Thanks

Mouse, they do the Eloise puffer coat in red and navy. £50. They got good reviews last year. And monsoon did a 25% off everything offer in November last year. I nearly bought one in jan but thought it was too long! My dd is only 4 tho.

Although the style, outdoor practicality and warmth of the Barbour one is more what I'm looking for.

Have you had a look at didricksons they do some v.good parkas for dc and less £££ than Barbour. Viking Kids do them I think.

Scandi/German brands - Didricksons mentioned above, but also Jack Wolfskin. Try their Fairbanks Parka. Price not much less than the Barbour, but sold well where I work last year.

It is hard getting a waterproof knee (or just above) coat for children that is also warm too, they all seem to be ski jackets or long wool. I got dd a long puffer from h&m in the sale (was £30, reduced to £10) and a winter ski jacket from there too. Waterproof & lined trousers for days walking in the wintery rain seem to be the only answer, luckily my dd hardly ever wears skirts/dresses.
This is mid length, £90, but because it is geox, I would think it was good quality/waterproof/warm - but you can't tell from the description! This is also mid-length and again no technical specifications.

This Jack Wolfskin looks technically good, but still not very long. If your dd is a tomboy then maybe slightly shorter is better, my dd likes climbing trees and rarely feels the cold like I do, my dd is also tiny for her age, so coats do tend to be slightly longer on her too.

Have a quick look at John Lewis website. I got my dd ( same age) a lovely dark purple padded long coat in the sales for £16. Reg price was probably twice that but it would have been worth it. Lovely not completely waterproof but dealt with the slushy rain stuff quite well.

My daughter has a great padded coat grim Lands End, I bought it in the sale so not sure how much they are but it is a fabulous coat, down filled, nice and long.
