Thank you so much sorrel! Just looked at my bras-they are 34d...so certainly the wrong size!

Sorrel- would you be able to give me some advice please? Thank you for taking time to help so many of us!

I measure nearly 40 under and 44 over- currently wear a 40dd but have copious amounts if backfat and wires are never ever flat. Have tried an E cup but boobs never fill the cups- what am I doing wrong?!

if you find 30 too tight then try the 32 in maybe a C cup

I recently got fitted at a local shop and went from 40f to a 36h. I am so amazed at how comfortable my new bras are , so wish I had done it years ago.

I got primadonna bras which are a ludicrous price but I will wear nothing else now, they're that good. I look much slimmer and tops fit better. Even 10yr old ds noticed Shock

Snort Hmm, you may want to try a 38 back with an E cup. If the wires aren't lying flat then that's an almost certain sign that the cup is too big. There is so much trial and error involved (oh for standardised sizing!) and so much difference between brands and styles. You may even need a 38F. Be brave [hgrin].

Snort have you tried different brands and models or is it the same with all of them? I can't wear certain brands, as even when the size is correct, the shape just doesn't suit me and I can't get the wires flat either.

ggirl Fantastic isn't it! I think most people look about a stone lighter when wearing the correct size bra.

I too love Prima Dona bras (I'm wearing one now in fact) and wish I could afford to buy more.

I will try the 38f- thanks. Hazle, different brands give other probs, I guess one of my other issues is that I don't have time to spend in a shop trying loads of different brands- perhaps I need to invest some time too :)

Back2Two Try a 30DD/E or even a 28E.

plumedematante As Vodka says, tTry a 32C but don't be surprised if you need to go up a cup in some styles (e.g. plunge).

Yes, bra shopping definitely needs time and effort devoted to it. Unlike many, I love bra shopping (especially for other people. I'm not bossy, oh no not me!). If I had the capital, I'd open a lingerie/coffee shop/second hand book shop!

sorrel -yup I am saving up for another one , need a nude one , refuse to wear my shitty old ones now.
was watching Nigella the other night , I would put money on her wearing a prima donna Smile

Can I just mention the tightness issue. I measure 30/36 and until recently wore a 32c. On advice from here I tried a 30 band for the first time ever but was really unsure as it seemed very very tight.

I bought a 30e in the end and the cups felt fine, but for the first few wears it was very uncomfortable as the band was so tight. However, it has now loosened a bit and is comfortable so it's definitely worth sticking with it.

I'd bought a 32d earlier in the year which seemed ok at the time but has now also loosened and now seems too big.

Go with the tightest band you can bear - it's worth it.

ggirl Thanks, I travel to Hampshire fairly regularly so will add the shop address to my contacts for future reference. Their website says they stock Prima Donna and Fauve, my two favourite brands!

RollerCola - Yes a tighter band does take a little time to become accustiomed to especially if you've been wearing one three or more sizes too big.

Back I would also try a 28ff too.

If I'm not too late to this... I have a 34 underbust and a 42.5 chest measurement - have lost weight and my previous 36Fs are too loose in the cup and riding up at the back.

If you could suggest a size to try that will give me decent support that would be wonderful :)

34 FF and G would be good starting points. If you look over on the "small boobs" thread I have posted a list of things to check for a good fitting bra (near the bottom of the thread!)

Back again

I went bra shopping yesterday and tried on several different styles of 34FF and 34G. FF too tight, G gaping on one boob [grr]

Bearing in mind Statistically's tips on the other thread, however, I think I must have measured myself incorrectly because I could get all of my fingers up through the 34 bras, and they were fairly comfy on the tightest notch rather than the tightness that others on this thread have mentioned. So I tried a 32H. The band fits brilliantly, but the cups were too small. No 32HHs available in my local shops, I may have to resort to the interweb...

If one cup gapes, is it better to go for that size and buy some sort of padding (sorry if this has already been covered) rather than try and squish the larger boob into a smaller cup?

Report
StatisticallyChallenged · 07/11/2012 15:03

You should buy for the bigger boob and pad the smaller one. If you could get a 32 done up it is probably right as you do need to measure pretty firmly underneath . Try brastop, figleaves, bravissimo and leia for 32hh- at least it sounds like you were able to get pretty close in the shop so these should be about right.
