Bumhair - what to do?

OK, I haven't shared this with ANYONE until now. So, now I'm (just) over 40 my pubic hair has started to grow in my bum crack. I know you are all falling over laughing (hope those Tena lights are in place...) but it is causing me some embarrassment. I'm sure DH must have noticed (although I must add we are not into THAT!) & when getting changed at the gym/swimming pool I'm pretty self conscious. It's not that I can comb it neatly over each bum cheek but I know it's there. I can't get it waxed - too embarrassed & would no doubt be way too painful. I've got one of those laser hair removal thingys but I couldn't do it on my own & don't think it would be advised! So please help!! Am I alone? [hblush]

Really don't shave it. Itchy shaving rash round your bumhole is not nice. Plus it grows back prickly and stabby.

Muststudy · 25/10/2012 16:09

Waxing - feels nice as well. Ive had it since forever so not just a 40 year old thing!! (im only 24!)

susiedaisy · 25/10/2012 16:14

Waxing and epilating are you all mad!! I nearly faint if I get a pube accidentally stuck to my sanitary towel!!

Meglet · 25/10/2012 16:19

Brazillian it if it really bugs you.

I do mine at home, it really doesn't hurt that much at all if you do small strips and pull the skin taut.

It's nice and breezy being hair free down below, better for the gym.

thank you for putting a smile on my face Grin

Skiffen - slightly unnerved that you are reading about my bum hair in public! Am going for bikini wax on Monday so will take a deep breath & ask! I'm glad I'm not alone & I knew I'd get an answer here! Although I shan't be immac-ing, epiladying it or IPL ing it anytime soon. Might just learn to live with it! Thank you!

iWILLdothis · 25/10/2012 19:27

fuzzywuzzy yes I use mine on pubic hair. Sorry, OP, I've read your post again and see that you already have an IPL thingy. Why not use it??

mummymafia · 25/10/2012 21:55

MrsW 'scuse my unbelievable ignorance but what is a playboy? When referring to a waxing situation? I must just establish that I'm not a nun, nor am I married to a vicar on the island of Skye. And when do you all get the time to do such things to your bum cracks? My 2 DSs would want to see what I was up to & that is just a step too far! They see no issue with sitting on my lap whilst I'm poo-ing or weeing behind me if I'm sat on the loo for a quiet minute. [hhmm]

Ok, I wiki'd it.

Everyone has it, it's either peachy fuzz (lucky cows) or just regular hairy. Just go and have it waxed if you can't do it yourself. Tell the waxer to want right underneath an your bum doing. It's fine. Having waxed Christ knows how many fanjo's, you concentrate on doing a good job and getting rid of all rather than 'ooh she's a hairy sod'. It used to bother me more the ones who needed it and when asked, refused! Smooth fanjo and hairy bush-bum. Obviously asked in a polite way, not just "you've a right hairy arse, let me at you with my hot wax".

When I saw your thread title I thought the problem was that the hair on your head looked like a bum! So at least it's not that :o

bonzo77 · 26/10/2012 11:21

Waxing and immac work ok for my hairy crack. If the hairs are quite long you can just pull them out once the skin is warm and soft in the shower. Not that uncomfortable, free and will certainly thin them out and remove any that are a tripping hazard.

susiedaisy · 26/10/2012 11:21

Yep me too and I was going to post that my son has referred to my naturally wavy hair (on my head) as 'trolls bum hair' on odd occasions!Grin

Startailoforangeandgold · 26/10/2012 11:53

Why worry, only DH can see it and he's furry all over!

KristinaM · 26/10/2012 11:59

LOL at donkey. And Aimee. Typical mumsnet

Ohsiena · 26/10/2012 12:13

When I go for a wax the beautician says 'do you want the back doing?' which is code for 'shall I wax your hairy arse'.

She whips it's off super quick whilst still chatting as if it's the most normal thing in the world.

Try that code when you go for your wax, say 'could do the back as well' and then...maybe wink at herGrin.

MummysHappyPills · 26/10/2012 15:57

It may make you all feel better to know I am currently waiting to see a male doctor who will probably need to perform a bimanual vaginal exam and/or a digital rectal exam, and my arse hole is currently in all it's hairy glory as there is no suitable way to depilate it by myself at short notice! Keep telling myself that he will have seen it all before....Blush

valiumredhead · 26/10/2012 16:15

I wouldn't dream of trimming my bum hair or pubes for a doctor!

kiwigirl42 · 27/10/2012 19:59

ROFLM(HAIRY)AO!

I'm on waiting list for hysterectomy and was wondering about what to do with my front garden. I hadn't worried about the back garden until now!

Meglet · 27/10/2012 20:30

kiwi when I had mine they said all the hair would have to come off the front before the op. I breezily decided I would wax it off beforehand as I was used to doing my own brazillians. But OMFG taking all of the front off hurt Shock. And it looked weird. Underneath is a doddle compared to that.

kiwigirl42 · 27/10/2012 22:20

OMFG Meglet. I think the hair removal will traumatise me more than the fecking op. really, really scared about it. Think I will get a HUGE tube of Veet and get practising!

susiedaisy · 27/10/2012 22:22

In most op theatres they will shave a person just around the area that the incision/ wound will be, but they don't need to shave all areas routinely these days!
