Keeping warm in a tea dress in Autumn/Winter

In the Spring I bought I lovely burgundy tea dress with a cream bird print that I've loved wearing as it is hugely flattering. But how do I wear it in winter and keep warm?

My bottom half is sorted with cream knit tights and boots. But I can't work out the top half for the life of me. I have ordered and returned a LOT of cardis - belted, long, boyfriend, cropped, waterfall, fitted, v neck, blah blah blah. You name it, I've tried it. But all of them just cover up the flattering fitted shape of the top of the dress and leave me looking like a bag lady.

So, is there a solution to this, or do I put my dress away until next summer?

Have you tried a thin long sleeved top or polo neck underneath? That can look quite good if you get the colours right

Thermal vest underneath

Tea dresses are summer wear to me, so I'd put it away, sorry.
I don't think the end result would be right for the season tbh.

I wear thin long sleeve tops under dresses in the winter. Thick tights, ankle boots. I'm 37 and I rock too!

Yep, layer it with a long sleeve top underneath. I go for Uniqlo heattech ones - the off white is a brilliant colour. I would probably also add a scarf.

Are the Uniqlo ones like a jersey t-shirt material or thinner? I want a couple for the winter & see they're on offer at the mo. But I wanted a thinner, tight-knit type like the M & S Heatgen ones - have felt these & they're lovely & thin & soft but £4 more.

They are thin - I would only wear as a layer, too thin on their own. I haven't seen the M&S but I imagine they are very similar.

Thank you for all your suggestions, I have a cream polo and a cream long sleeve tshirt in the wardrobe, plus a scarf that might go as well. Sadly I don't have a biker jacket and can't stretch to one right now, but I'll bear it in mind at sale time

Get yourself on eBay. I saw a fabulous oasis one go for £9 the other day . They only get better with age ( although This one looked airily new ) .. I nearly bought it even though I have one !! ( sucker for a bargain emotion!!)
