M&S jeggings ...actually rather good or am I deluded?

Didn't really know what jeggings were until yesterday- have bought the black ones.
Like a slightly 'smoother'skinny jean and suprisingly flattering.
May return and buy the navy too.

My attempt to link to them

NotAnIdiotHonest · 22/10/2012 11:53

Woo!

Startailoforangeandgold · 22/10/2012 13:17

Thanks those look brilliant.
I sometimes want to wear my tunic tops to things that leggins feel a bit scruffy for. Those look great and warm.

ziggers · 22/10/2012 14:19

I've got these in the bright blue, and I think I may get the raspberry coloured ones too. I find they are flattering (I am a tall size 16), and don't go baggy after a few hours which some of my other skinnies do. They are also high wasted enough on my to not give me the dreaded muffin top!!

ziggers · 22/10/2012 14:19

*me

Has anyone tried the coated ones? Are they nice or awful?

Frontpaw · 22/10/2012 14:37

I loathe boot cut trousers. Don't see the point.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/10/2012 15:03

Hopefully - the coated black ones looked lovely on me but felt really itchy, so I didn't buy them.

Hopefully · 22/10/2012 15:18

Thanks Remus. I am quite good with itchy (as in, I can wear scratchy wool and don't care) so hopefully they will be ok. Think I'll order some in to collect so I can give them straight back if they are awful.

GeorginaWorsley · 22/10/2012 17:38

Coated ones brilliant.
Have chocolate and damson.
Not as shiny as DP coated skinnies or jeggings so great for daytime

Frontpaw · 22/10/2012 20:18

What's 'coated'?

Springhasarrived · 22/10/2012 23:18

I've got black (2 pairs!) navy, teal, and berry ones. They are so cheap , great on the bum and come up to the waist properly. Goodbye muffin top Grin

I wanted say though - be warned that the black and navy are entirely different fabric from the "colours". They are much lighter and really an entirely different garment to the colours which are properly thick cotton and entirely like normal jeans. I like both so happy but I was a bit surprised!

sunnysunnyshine · 22/10/2012 23:26

Are the maternity over bump or under bump does anyone know...?

Bought them in black last week - love them so much am planning on another purchase today Smile. Ooh the bliss of a properly fitting waist! Flattering, comfortable, versatile - what's not to love?

ClaraDeLaNoche · 23/10/2012 09:39

Thanks everyone, will try on today. Why oh why do M&S have such putrid photography? Are you reading this M&S, call them skinny cords and style up your pics.

Snowflake2012 · 24/10/2012 13:08

Just taken your word for it and bought 3 pairs - navy, black and red! Should see me through winter :o)

ElectricSoftParade · 24/10/2012 14:01

I have been reading this thread and thought I would get some of these to try. I called in to our local charity shop on my way to town and found a pair of green cords and a burgundy pair each for £1.00.

Not quite as good is that they are both short and I am a long but as I will be wearing with boots, it doesn't matter! I am very pleased with my bargains but still intend to have black and indigo. Smile

Snowflake2012 · 24/10/2012 17:57

They are great but they are not jeggings at all they are just skinny jeans! Now I have 3 pairs I will go home and throw out my horrible old skinny jeans which have no stretch and I am always having to pull up as they don't stay up!

huntersmum · 24/10/2012 19:16

Beware the different fabric composition of the different colours. I have navy and black and they are great - don't go baggy and cling in the right place. I also have camel and teal - much baggier in the leg and lose their shape quicker. They are more like trousers than skinny jeans .

Springhasarrived · 24/10/2012 20:12

I have had exactly the same trouble huntersmum with the teal and the berry. M&S really should sell them under the same grouping because they are nothing like the black and navy.

Startailoforangeandgold · 24/10/2012 22:55

I've just bought navy cotton and black cord ones and will report back.

femmeaufoyer · 13/01/2013 10:06

What's the sizing like on these? I wore the maternity ones through my pregnancy and they were great. I want to get the normal ones now. I'm 10/12. I think Marks tend to come up big though? What about these jeggings? Thanks

Virgil · 13/01/2013 10:09

I think the sizing comes up big on them. I have three pairs in the small and they are all slightly big (I'm a size 8-10). They are fab though and the most comfortable way to wear skinny jeans. I agree with other though in that they are not really jeans, they are stretch denim.

polyhymnia · 13/01/2013 10:25

Tempted to try these again by this thread.

But when I did try a few months ago, they didn't look good/stylish at all on my large (though hourglass body) and long, quite slim legs. The size needed for my waist and hips was horribly baggy on legs.

So have been sticking to my (much more expensive) NYDJ jeggings and skinnies, plus Boden Roma trousers for very casual days, which are also a nice snug fit on my legs.

Appreciate the problem I had with them won't arise for all you slender S and B people. Or indeed larger people who have thicker legs.
