A foundation to replace Virgin Vie One Step Face Base

I dont wear make up every day, just for going out/special occassions (more of a rarity these days!). For several years now I have used the One Step Face Base by virgin vie and have always thought it is fab - because I only wear it for going out I like the quite heavy coverage and the fact it is quite nice and matte.

Anyway, my last one is almost running out now and I know that Virgin vie have gone bust and you can no longer buy it through the website. Plus, I think that I fancy a change anyway.

So what foundations can you recommend for me? I quite liked the fact that OSFB was in fact 'one step' and you didnt have to faff about with powder etc, although I wouldnt be totally averse to going down that road. I have heard great things about the Chanel foundations but am not sure if the coverage would be enough. I have also tried a sample of the estee lauder double wear, which was very heavy, and which is probably what I will go for if I cannot find anything else.

I am 30, with normal/dry skin, but no major issues with spots or wrinkles. I am very pale!

There is a new company called LOV skincare who now have the rights to make it. They don't have a website yet but can be found on Facebook

I used to use the OSFB from Vie, and have tried a few different foundations since mine ran out, and I have found Bare Minerals to be the best. The lady on the counter at Boots showed me how to apply it, and it only takes a few minutes. I bought a starter kit, which includes primer, brushes, 2 x foundation, blusher and finishing powder for £50, which I thought was good value!

I have the Bare Minerlas and much prefer it to OSFB which just makes me look old and wrinkly. Why do you need finishing powder as well?

I just had that new colour matching service at boots number seven counter, it was great and bought one of their foundations- really happy with it. They had three for two on so also got their under eye pen- fab, and volume mascara.

I used to love that stuff...have tried loads of others and the best alternative is Mac studio fix.
Liquid favs are Lancôme taint idole (for posh), Maybelline super stay 24hr ( 005 light beige is v pale).......neither need powder ( which I avoid like the plague because I have wrinkles ..Sad) and set nice and matte without being too thick.

Oops sorry its "teint" idole..........

What about

knitknack · 19/10/2012 06:59

Dior's forever powder foundation is the holy grail of one steps!! Expensive but would last forever with your usage and it's fantastic!!

QuinnFabray · 19/10/2012 14:12

Estee Lauder double wear powder foundation is also a great alternative.

If you are still wanting to get the OSFB contact a lady called @kati_tyler on twitter. Her company is selling it again under the new name, it's about £20. Or if you dm me I'll send you her email.

You can get One Step Face Base in Ivory, Soft Beige and Honey direct from www.lovskincareandcosmetics.com It is the same formaulation from the same manufacturer

AlwaysOneMissing · 07/01/2013 16:40

I have recently had this problem in trying to replace my OSFB. I tried Bare Minerals - not as quick and easy to apply, or transportable, so not what I wanted
Mac - poor colour selection and they couldn't match me up very well (I was soft beige in OSFB) and they only seemed to offer a finishing powder, not a powder/foundation combo.
Lots of other brands didn't have a product suitable for me to even try.

I settled on Clinique Superpowder (or something?!) as it applied as a powder, was in a compact, and has quite good coverage. Although I still preferred the OSFB!

One Step Face Base (the EXACT same formula from same manufacturer) is still available from LOV Skincare and Cosmetics Ltd. I am a manager for the company and can let you have any info you like about it. X
