Shopping for my 12 year old?!?!?!?

I'm really struggling to find places to shop with my dd, aside from the fact that she has a very odd skater girl fashion sense which makes it all the more difficult I'm also really struggling to find shops that cater for her shape and size. She's just about big enough to fit into adult size 6-8 stuff but because she is child height rahter than woman height the stuff always ends up being too long in the arm / body / leg.

Where on earth do you shop for your not quite adult sized teens?

I used to get DD stuff from New Look's 915 range. Have you tried there?

Dd is 11 and we have the same problem. She doesn't do girls stuff at all so we often go to boys stuff especially in Next. School uniform is the biggest problem, girls school trousers are all for tiny girls!

Tequila New Look is ok for skinny jeans but that's about it. All their tops seem to have very baggy necklines which my dd will just not wear - she a plain classic t-shirt kinda gal! Yes 3monkeys we have resorted to buying boys clothes a lot in the past too but she's that bit more grown up now and get's embarressed buying boys stuff.

Zara does some things that can look quite skaterish and has size age 11/12 and 13/14. Some stuff is reasonably narrow, fitted, high necked though we've still had disasters with acres of extra material thrown in too. In fact their kids stuff in 13/14 is probably bigger than their adult xs but much cheaper.

The Boden teenage range is really good - the plain tees are funky.

H & M is good for girls ranges that are not pink and frilly.

I'm having the same problem with my 11yr old.
I'm on a budget too, so no Boden, and need to do mostly online as I can't get out much.
Skinnies are no good for her, she's inherited my thighs, poor girl.

From 12 my skater girly insisted on shopping with her friends. Then it was a lot easier and her friends had the problem...She found things in Primark and Gap and H&M (places we could never have shopped together, but with friends the clothes just looked better somehow.) i would supplement the wardrobe from Next, M & S, Republic and have just discovered Johnny B (Boden's teen range) just in time for for Christmas.

Skater girl turned into heavy metal/emo music girl and for last birthday asked for band tees. Brace yourself for that one!

Also, once they are into a sport the do at weekends, they can live in trackies/sports kit a lot of the time!

My 12 year old is tall but we tend to shop in Primark (adults size 6 and youth wear), Zara kids, H&M both adult and kids, New look 915, Next (adult size 6 and kids), M&S for school stuff. Gap kids too small.

I think for your DD's particular fashion sense it will be a case of getting bits and bobs from lots of different shops.

We had this problem too. Zara and HandM are great for this age group. The odd bit from Boden/Johnnie B too.

sweetheart, DD (13) is that kind of build (but with an ever-enlarging bra-cup size) and Primarni skinnies in size 6 fit well (even though she has inherited my/DH's muscular thighs!) She also hates things with plunging necklines, etc.

DD mainly goes shopping with friends, spending her own money, though sometimes we go together - I wouldn't really want to buy anything she hadn't approved...

I'm not sure what you mean by skater-style, but she buys skater-type dresses, etc from New Look. She also tries Peacocks, H&M (but seems to be between the kids fashion and womens - often too large/wrong cut) Zara similar probs to H&M. She wouldn't be seen dead in Boden and hasn't got into Jack Wills/Hollister, etc yet, thank god!

Summer is easy with her as we go to a local outlet shopping place and buy lots of board shorts by Roxy, vans, oneil etc and she'll wear them with plain t shirts. Dresses are a huge NO! She lives in trainers, plays football and in winter seems to just live in hoodys and jeans.

Sounds like I should just send her out with some friends ;-) saves myself the stress!

Asos is good; lots of choice and sizes. And free delivery and returns for about £9 a year if you sign up to the Premier thing, which also gets you offers and stuff.

Lots of things suitable for younger girls.

I have the same problem, ESP shoes ( she takes size 7!! So adult shoes only......find me pair of decently priced biker boots, loath to pay adult prices when her feet are still growing) . We found some nice things ( though limited choice) in La Redoute, well priced too.
