Need to make an online order. How does the sizing come up for Older girls's (aged 12) clothes?

Thanks.

I buy for an older boy aged 12 who is very tall, so in age 14 jeans. I measured him last time I ordered and used the sizing guide in the back of the book. When they arrived they fit perfectly. I hope this helps.

I find Next children's clothes very generous around the waist, similar to their adult sizes. My children have all been skinny and I've struggled to get Next clothes to fit. Better for a chunkier child IMHO.

I would say it depends on what shape your DD is.

My DD (11), has a "curvy" figure as in definite waist, hips and boobs.

The clothes (to me) are made for children who have not reached puberty and still have a childs straight up and down shape. They dont take into consideration a girls hips or breasts (my DD is a C cup) that have filled out.

I buy my DD the plus size in jeans, or petite from the adult section and tops that fasten at the front with buttons are out as they are made for "flat" girls. so again come from the adult bit as there is more room across the chest area.

I totally agree my daughter is 10 and developing her shape. She has always had next jeans but this time they didn't fit her. I ended up getting her jeggings and leggings she is slim but has a curve now Smile

Hi, I always have trouble with my 2 dd's sizing as my little one is chubby and tall; but the 4 year old is tall and skinny. I buy size 2 - 3 for the little one although she only turned 1 this year, and size 4 - 5 is still a bit big on the 4 year old. I found something online that might help though. www.alvakids.com
it's an iphone app where you can enter your child's height and weight and it will recommend a size in any brand. i tried it for my dd baby and it worked quite well. Maybe it will work for older kids as well?
