What are your 'wear forever' items of clothing?

I am quite a 'fast fashion' type of girl, rather than always going for timeless classics and I get bored of clothes quite quickly. However, today I put on my favourite ever cardigan that I bought absolutely years ago from Warehouse and realised that I will NEVER get rid of it! It is a grey knit cardi, kind of a longline shape but not baggy. It used to have black buttons but they have all come off (although the button holes are so small, you cant tell it once had buttons), the wrists are starting to look a bit frayed and there is a small hole in the armpit, but I still think it looks great! It is a very flattering shape despite me being a bit fatter than when I bought it and it goes with everything. I love it!

Other things I have had for years and have no intention of ever throwing out are:
A denim mini skirt from topshop
Another cardigan from primark - grey and black striped, although not quite as nice as the grey one!
A purple t-shirt with a sort of 3d satin bow on it (sounds gross, but isnt!) from new look - really great quality t shirt, although it has got deodorant marks on it that wont come out now
Martha jeans (although I guess once these get the inevitable hole in the crotch I will have to get rid).
A purple pea coat from Asda
I totally love my 'just sheepskin' uggs as well, but after 6 winters they have holes in so I have just got some new Ugg Australia ones that I am hoping will last as long - I know uggs are not really the mumsnet way, but I really like them!

Funnily enough all the items that I have spent loads of money on I have got bored of or have worn out quite quickly!

Most of my forever stuff is cheap as hell but has lasted amazingly.

2 x longline cardigans (one dark green, one grey and burgundy-striped) from Primark. About 5/6 years old. Incredibly flattering, go with almost everything.

A Topshop tweed flounced miniskirt that I bought on eBAy for 8 euro about 6 years ago. Again, incredibly flattering.

Brown leather riding boots - spent a bit on these, but got them in Italy - would have cost a lot more back home I reckon. Approx 8 years old and still get compliments on them.

Leather biker jacket from Topshop (actually it's not even real leather) - perfect fit on me, goes with everything.

Cornflower blue cotton/silk mix top from Whistles - 5 years old. I regularly think about getting rid of this as I don't wear it too frequently. But it's very pretty on and now goes nicely with my new burgundy skinnies.

Zara leopard-print and red scarf - bought this season but is an instant outfit brightener. Goes with everything!

Black J brand 910's. I love, love these jeans. They are perfect in every way.

A black cotton capped sleeved dress with broderie anglais from Monsoon of all places. It's about 10 years old. Always wear it every summer.

A pair of tan ballet flats from Dune. 3 years old, wear them all the time. The most comfortable shoes I have ever owned.

I'm still cross at my mother for getting rid of an AMAZING camel suede and sheepskin coat that she owned as a teenager in the 70s - I wore it as a teenager around the millenium and it was one of those extraordinary pieces that just doesn't date. I made the mistake of not taking it to college with me and bam! Charity shopped, along with some beautiful silk dresses and a dark blue cropped leather jacket from the 80s. In fairness she held onto the jacket for years in the hope that it would come back into fashion. We assured her it never would :(

Functional clothing that is not beautiful but does an important job, very well. Strangely I don't have any other bits of clothing that I couldn't live without, in a fickle fashion kind of way. I've gone down two dresses this year so most of my clothes are less than 6 months old.

My list is rather unsophisticated compared to come on here. I do actually have a pair of Louboutins (a present, I did not buy them myself!) and although I will obviously keep those forever, I dont wear them all that often (they are sky high ) so I dont feel about them like I feel about my other items.

Jigsaw red tweed waisted flared coat. Bought in 1987 and still going strong. Has looked smart and kept me warm every winter for 25 years (though getting a bit snug). Have sewn the buttons back on three times so far.

Very long heavy thick denim skirt from Top Shop, not straight not flared - somewhere in between, a generous A-line. With pale blue stitched zig zag patterns on the front. Bought around 1994, still warm and comfortable. Not a very smart item but useful and attractive every winter.

Grey fitted cashmere polo-neck, Lyle & Scott, hip length, going a bit thin around the elbows now but still smart if you can't see where I've darned it so have to wear a jacket with it now. Circa 1985 and the softest cashmere I have ever owned.

Jigsaw 80s black velvet cropped slim fit trousers with plenty of lycra. Have worn under dresses, with tunics, with fitted tops, with shirts, with strappy tops, with everything. Fitted me beautifully until I had a baby and my stomach got somewhat too large to fit into them. Still, probably nearly 20 years of wear and they look like new. Saving them for DD. They have a side zip and a flat front and are very flattering.

My mum's olive and peach Zandra Rhodes mini dress from the 60s. Not my purchase but she chose well! It's been fashionable enough to wear in different ways for nearly fifty years (only the past 25 or so by me).

Wish I still had my lovely Prussian blue long baggy 80s Hobbs sweatshirt that got just too holey about five years back. It would be great with leggings still if I could have resurrected it.

And I wish I could still wear my gorgeous heavy cotton drill Marc O Polo skirt, flared, box-pleated, perfect dull teal colour. I bought it for university interviews about a quarter of a century ago. My waist has grown too much. One day I'll get another made that fits me.

I also still occasionally wear my stupid bright red fun fur coat that I saved all summer working in a pharmacy to buy when I was 15. The fur has gone a bit ragged but it's a lovely shape and the joy of actually owning it has never really faded.

Embarrassed to post mine!

A cream musto coat - 12 years old this year, it's never been re waterproofed, I wash it all the time, the horses stand on it, chew it etc etc and it comes up like new

A t shirt from Caledonian brewery worn by me as a nightie when I was little, then as a pj top, I still wear it as a pj top and its so soft

Ariat Grasmere boots - waterproof, come up like new despite being abused daily, and are totally non slip in snow

Purple square-shaped cotton t-shirt, Topshop circa 1986 it goes on every holiday with me.
A black boiled wool zip-up cardi-jacket which I got from BHS about 15 years ago at least, I've always loved it and seems they're in this year.
Pure wool reefer coat with a biggish collar so i could do the Sherlock look with a big scarf last winter, think I've had it about 18 years
First denim jacket, classic western style, bought with first nurse training salary 1985
Cropped navy jacket bought in a jumble sale in 1983
I don't wear the last 2 much but they are still there for the occasional outing.
