Females who seldom wear trousers

Rebecca54 · 01/10/2012 11:54

We had another chat over our office coffee break this morning about women who never or seldom wear trousers. It all started on Friday when we noticed that we were all in our black trousers again as autumn approaches and will probably stay like that until late spring.

We came up with (with a little help from people on here who joined in the previous thread):-

Kirstie Allsop (never wears trousers)
Dr Kate Williams (never wears trousers)
Nigella Lawson (recently seen in trousers following her slim!)
Dita von Tesse
Caroline Flack
Louise Minchin (Breakfast TV presenter)
Myleene Klasse.

Can our friends on here add to the list before our sad conversation tomorrow

When its bad, stormy weather outside I'm inside in my PJs. Grin

I wear trousers for dog walking and cycling. Other times am in leggings/tunic or dress/tights.

VivaLeBeaver · 01/10/2012 14:00

NigellasGuest - you could wear holdups.

NigellasGuest · 01/10/2012 14:09

Viva- I did try them. I reacted against the rubber bits round the thighs. I think I'm funny about tightness round the legs IYSWIM. When I was pg it was even worse and tights brought me out in major rashes - even cotton ones. A bit better now but still not comfortable.

but this thread is reminding me that I can wear maxi skirts with socks so perhaps it's time to revisit that combo!

SarkyWench · 01/10/2012 14:14

I used to use the fact that I cycle to work as an excuse not to wear skirts.
Then I realised that I stay much drier and warmer in a skirt plus long boots than I did with trousers. Boots dry more easily than trouser cuffs and are much warmer.

SarkyWench · 01/10/2012 14:16

Nigella
I used to wear holdups as I hated tights.
But now I just seem to have got used to tights. Maybe worth perservering? I do know what you mean though.

iseenodust · 01/10/2012 14:20

Not going to win any sexy awards but I confess to having some black wool stockings for winter. You can get merino ones !

YesAnastasia · 01/10/2012 14:29

I'm happiest in mild weather when I can wear opaque tights with my dresses. Or leggings.

Kirstie has some gorgeous dresses (and a beautiful black a-line pinny with a frill around the bottom)

Dollydowser · 01/10/2012 14:54

Can someone remind me where Kirsty buys her dresses from, its been mentioned on here before and I've forgotten.

Dollydowser · 01/10/2012 21:49

And if you know any bloggers who wear Nigella/ Kirsty style please let me know ie no skinny jeans and ballet pumps.

We know we are sad in the office to turn up in our black trousers most days but they are so cumfy and, when we go out for our sarnies - nice and warm.

We are getting sadder though and over our coffee today thought of women who seldom wear trousers in the soaps - Dreary Barlow, Eileen's sister - can't think or her name, Hayley Cropper, Tanya in Eastenders .......

I only wear trousers for work normally.

My job is such that skirts/dresses would be impractical and inappropriate but out of work, I much prefer dresses.

I love this time of year, sling on a dress and a pair of brightly coloured tights, add some comfy boots, job done. I find dresses so much easier than trousers. My days of crawling the floor after dc's are long gone thoughGrin

BeattieBow · 02/10/2012 19:51

I wear mostly dresses usually - I'm breastfeeding at the moment and hate having to wear trousers/skirts. Dresses are much easier.

Kirstie allsopp buys a lot of her dresses from Tucker I think.

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/10/2012 20:00

I live in dresses and skirts - I only wear trousers for the gym normally. I did decide to be adventurous the other day and buy some coloured skinnies, but even they will be worn with long feminine tops and killer heels.

For work though, it's exclusively skirts/dresses. I don't own black work trousers. Or any work trousers!

Dollydowser · 02/10/2012 21:36

Thanks BeattieBow, I remembered after I wrote that, and also from here apparently. I can see Kirsty in them, but I am too short to suit them and something about them reminds me of my grandmother

Llareggub · 02/10/2012 21:56

I very rarely wear trousers these days. It is just easier to wear a dress.

DontForgetTheLightAlesLawrence · 02/10/2012 22:01

My name is DFtLALawrence, and I rarely wear trousers.

I'm a female Lawrence, just to clear things up.

Doilooklikeatourist · 02/10/2012 22:02

Never wear trousers only baggy trackie bottoms when slobbing around house unless out for a walk complete with walking boots .
Summer uniform = linen skirt and sandals
Winter uniform = longer thicker skirt with tights and boots

RoxyRobin · 02/10/2012 22:26

I am permanently skirt-clad. Even when I'm hiking I wear a legging/smock combo. I don't like the feeling of being constricted round the nethers that I get from trousers.

I'm easily led into fashion crimes by this skirt preference, though. I'm 57 and have just bought this skirt from Warehouse which will expose my lumpy knees nicely.

Jbck · 02/10/2012 22:43

I'd like to wear dresses again, did a lot when I was younger boots and tights combo, they suit me much more than my comfy trousers. Currently not so comfy due to overeating and unstable thyroid, more the former tbh. So my question is who sells dresses like the Tucker ones? ideally for about a fifth of the price, they are beautiful but couldnt justify the price.

BeattieBow · 02/10/2012 23:17

ooh I forgot about the Samantha Sung dresses - I like that website Dolly but like you, I'm a different shape to Kirsty and worry that I'll just look frumpy. But they're bf friendly!

Dollydowser · 02/10/2012 23:35

Jbck, there are a few dresses in the sale on the website I linked to, navy one here (only small sizes left in sale though).

Rebecca54 · 09/10/2012 10:37

After our discussions last week we all decided to wear skirts to the office today to see if any of our male colleagues noticed.

Not sure if they are all being PC but no comments yet - although one fellow gave my legs a curious glance!

Honestly though one or two of us have remarked it makes a nice change to be out of our black trousers so we may do it again before it gets too cold

Interesting! How many skirt wearing girls are there in your office? Do you feel any different wearing a skirt, more/less professional, more productive?
I think I like myself more in a skirt, as if I've made more effort with myself.

Rebecca54 · 09/10/2012 19:13

Hi - there were 5 of us today. I personally feel more feminine in a skirt but for the office prefer more formal styles and plain colours - greys, dark blues etc. and tend to go for knee length.
