I love this dress but, um, it is from Superdry and I am 32...?

Dress

I am fairly grungy/gothy (but in a more grown up way than I used to be) generally and love it but, well, isn't Superdry for skinny stylish teenagers?

I like it, I'd wear it if I were thinner, with leggings & boots. I'm 38.
Purple tassly version sounds right up my alley :)

fedupofnamechanging · 27/09/2012 11:41

I like it and would wear this if I was slim enough. I am 38.

I don't think age should necessarily put you off wearing something - it should hinge on whether it suits you.

Cordrazine · 27/09/2012 12:38

The only people I know who wear Superdry are in their mid to late thirties so I don't think yo are too old for it at all. Whereas a brand like Hollister I pretty much only see on teenagers.

purplepansy · 27/09/2012 13:16

Not my kind of dress, but I'd wear it if it suited me and I'm older than you. I really love the way the website shows someone actually wearing and moving in the clothes. Wish other retailers would do this, would save me sending a lot of stuff back.

Pinkforever · 27/09/2012 13:31

Sorry but that is one fugly dress! its looks like one of the cheopo robes yu get in primarni...

PretzelTime · 27/09/2012 13:50

Sorry it has nothing to do with your specific dress choice OP but...
I've never heard of Superdry before. Ew why are they doing the fake Japanese thing? Isn't it a bit offensive to Japanese clothing brands? The name makes it sound like they sell tampons or nappies.

sugarice · 27/09/2012 14:09

I love it, similar to All Saints stuff. I would wear it with skinnies as I'm ancient now Grin.

iknowwho · 27/09/2012 14:43

I don't know anyone under 30 who wears superdry

Really? It is really popular where I live with 30 and 40+ as casual work wear.

iknowwho · 27/09/2012 14:45

Love the tag line in the description - vintage thift - cost £70!!

GoldenGreen · 27/09/2012 20:40

I like it very much and couldn't care less if they are being "fake Japanese" or if it's aimed at teenagers or whatever. If I needed yet another dress I would buy it.

BeatTheClock · 27/09/2012 20:46

Not my thing but I am Confused that what shop the label says it came from would be a releant factor.

If you like it you like it whether it came from Superdry or BHS. Brand names bypass me utterly.

SomethingOnce · 27/09/2012 21:29

I'd like it if it didn't have a hood!

SomethingOnce · 27/09/2012 21:44

Um, sorry, that didn't answer the question.

A lot of thirty-somethings are into Superdry, but I agree that it's irrelevant. If you love it and it looks good, wear it!

ForkForever · 27/09/2012 22:02

Bought it now. God knows if it'll look any good on me.

I just got the fear that all the teenagers I volunteer with would be giving me the Hmm face. Like when I was at school and my mum bought me some Kickers because they were the most hardwearing looking school-suitable shoes in the shop, and all the cool girls took the piss because even though they were the 'right' shoes I had no right to have them on. Or something.

I think I am scarred by my youth, actually. I might need a drink now.

aw! I hope you like it anyway.

In solidarity am wearing a blue thrift 'dolly' dress today but hopefully nobody much will see

NettoSuperstar · 28/09/2012 09:44

I want it.
Where's the half price one?

Startailoforangeandgold · 28/09/2012 09:54

Theres a blue one with flower trim in the Next catalogue. DD1 would look brilliant in it, but I can't stretch to £70.

So if anyone's seen similar please post.

Oh and OP don't worry that DD is 14, she's a curvy size 12 not a straight up and down teen. Tends to clothes that don't have an age limit.
I can certainly think of 30ish mums at school who'd look good in that dress.

NettoSuperstar · 28/09/2012 10:03

I'm 34, the only reason I haven't ordered is because it's £70!
