Parlux Hairdryer - anyone got one?

And are they THAT good? I need a new hairdryer and I'm prone to frizziness so I'm thinking of getting the Parlux ceramic ionic dryer, however they are around £80. I'm happy to spend that much if its worth it but I can't find anyone who is not a stylist, to get a balanced opinion.

Anyone?

I'm not that impressed with mine. It's marginally lighter than my old one... um - that's the best thing I can say....

JeuxDEnfants · 26/09/2012 20:00

I've got one and not overly impressed.

SquishyCinnamonSwirls · 26/09/2012 20:05

I love mine. I have mid back length curly hair and it's fab, I can blow dry it straight without the need for straighteners and drying it out.

crazybutterflylady · 26/09/2012 20:38

I don't have a parlez but was lucky enough to get one of these beauties to test from Grazia. I absolutely love it and would 100% pay for a replacement for it if it blew up.
Some reviews here. Seems it's £75 on Argos but haven't shopped around, might be cheaper elsewhere.
It dries my thick long hair really quickly and leaves it really shiny. I LOVE it!

crazybutterflylady · 26/09/2012 20:39

*parlux. Bloody autocorrect!

MidnightinMoscow · 26/09/2012 20:42

Yes, I do and I love it.

I have really thick hair, that holds onto water. It has reduced my drying time considerably.

ScooseIsLoose · 26/09/2012 20:46

My cousin is a hairdresser he said parlux are the best but I decided to buy the new ghd air dryer and I'm glad I did. It is ionic and really help smooth my thick prone to frizz hair. I highly recommend it.

MrsRobertDuvallHasRosacea · 26/09/2012 20:46

I bought one recently on the recommendation of Mnetters and have been very pleased.

Fangolina · 26/09/2012 21:00

I have the ceramic ionic one and its very good. I was a bit Shock at the cost, but I don't have to use my straightners all the time now, which is great. I have shoulder length fine hair that can be frizzy.

Pinner35 · 27/09/2012 10:18

Hmmm, I thought I needed a diffuser too but if these dryers are as good as the reviews, I may not need one. I have long thick curly hair which I wear both straight and curly. I'm confused now!

I was all set to buy a Parlux today but have bought the one crazybutteryflylady recommended. Used it this morning and it's fab. More powerful than the Parlux one I was going to get as well. Thanks for the recommendation! Smile

baconsandwich · 27/09/2012 13:19

I love my parlux - have long thick hair.
And I also have the babyliss big hair - the two together give me the closest thing to a salon blow dry i can manage myself!

Pinner35 · 27/09/2012 17:52

I am still undecided! Cheesymonster, do you have straight or curly hair? Baconsandwich, what about yours? I need an opinion from a curly girl. :)

I've had the GHD air dryer for over a week now and I'm completely thrilled with it. Not noisy or overly hot but it's halved my hair drying time easily.

cheesymonster · 27/09/2012 18:21

Ah sorry, I have long straight hair and it's pretty fine.

Pinner35 · 27/09/2012 20:06

Right, SquishyCinnamonSwirls.....since you are a fellow curly one and rate it highly, I'm going to get the Parlux. Any recommendations on cheapest place to get it?

I have an old parlux and love it. So much faster than any previous hairdryer I've had

Teddyburr · 04/04/2015 21:20

I was going to get a Parlux, but I was recommended to get an Elchim 3900 Healthy hair dryer, by my hairdresser, which I did - and I haven't looked back. The Elchim is soooo powerful, at 2400 watts and with a massive airflow rate of 84 to 85 - and lightweight too. It dries my hair in superfast time, and when I have finished blowdrying my hair with a big round brush, it is like glass. Amazing considering my fine long hair was in a dull (with frizzy ends) and breaking condition after using a highly priced shampoo for 4 times!! Breakage of my hair has stopped also now, helped by being able to use the Elchin on a low heat, and because the air output is incredible, but controllable using one of the supplied nozzles. Sorry Parlux.....
