Those cardigans with big fronts

I don't know what they're called. They have big fronts that sort of flap about or you can wrap over your front.

Middle aged or just fine? Have seen young women wearing them but I'd previously thought of them as 50+.

Waterfall cardigans?

They're tricky. Can look very very mumsy, especially if there is a lot cascading acrylic.

But fine knit ones with less material can look good.

Although they are considered mumsy they can be very flattering if you are trying to hide a muffin top.

Middle aged and dated

noddyholder · 20/09/2012 16:04

I think they are hideous and make anyone with boobs look enormous. Have seen some nice ones on very skinny minnies otherwise no.

BonnieBumble · 20/09/2012 16:05

I saw one in the Isabella Oliver catalogue and it looked less dated than most of them.

I'm seeing them on twentysomethings. Perhaps it's desperation (freezing today). Was just hopeful that they had become somehow ok - I'm shivering and they look toasty.

PS Acrylic? Shudder!

Fine knit ones in a cut that suits you are fine. Not all waterfalls are created equal. Also need to be worn with vaguely stylish clothes to not look mumsy. I wear mine with zip leg skinnies, long vest, sometimes layered with long sleeved top, and ankle boots.

Also try are not that toasty - they look wank if you wrap them round you unless you weigh 7 stone, and look odd under most coats. Useful cool weather cover up, but not a year round useful knit.
