Right just to say that I don't this new fangled gadget is up to much and here's why.....

I firstly had it done a week or so back. It was a hot day and both the matches were really off. Firstly I was told I was a 'cool beige'. She then proceeds to pop it on and it looked like mud-much too dark. She then did it again and read 'soft rose'. Again assistant tried it and my face seemed to glow orange. Clearly this was not working! She told me to pop back when it wasn't so warm as the gadget took a photo of the top of your skin and if you were warm it wouldn't work.

I traipsed back there yesterday and took my Mum to see if it was just me. My Mum has a cool skin ( she's a winter) and the machine read her skintone as 'honey'. When this was popped on her she looked orange and muddy. My Mum took a sample and tried it at home and it was still a dreadful match. I was redone and again told I was a 'soft rose'. I took the sample home and it was without doubt the furthest away from my skintone as possible. There was no element of blending etc. It was shockingly bad no matter how little the product you used.

So my conclusion? You need to know your skin undertone and this machine doesn't cut the mustard.

I am an Autumn by the way and Mac got me spot on in terms of tone. I'm sticking with my dupe Revlon sand beige as this actually seamlessly blends with my skintone and perfects the skin. My mum found her perfect match in L'oreal Rose beige-again perfect blend.

Anyone else with a similar outcome?

I've get a bit of a tan on my face over the summer - but summer is now over. I generally need a very light tone foundation. In the summer I just just tinted moisturiser (medium/fair) and in the winter tinted moisturiser fair. How does the machine cope with that?

Or am I ment to buy one shade now and another in a few weeks when I've faded a little?

Surely the only way to get the right answer is to try the foundation on your face- like they will do at many cosmetic counters?

Bobbi Brown, lauder, Clinique, etc will put 3 shades on your cheeks to see which one is invisible.

I went from "wheat" on one cheek and "cool rose" on the other to "warm ivory" in the space of a week.
From one end of the scale to the other depending on which branch I went to.

I quite like the last match and was going to buy with a No 7 voucher but I notice it's only £3 off make-up now.

I agree it is nonsense a gimmick! Enjoyable but unreliable.

Didn't another company have a foundation gadget type thing or am I dreaming it?
