Are people still wearing them this year or were they a one season wonder?

Love my two!! Wear them all the time.

sittinginthesun · 19/09/2012 22:08

I'm wearing mine. Cost a fair bit, and it's gorgeous.

gregssausageroll · 19/09/2012 22:27

Have 2 and wear them a lot.

EdMcDunnough · 20/09/2012 07:18

I have two, one I barely wear, the other I wear quite a lot in the winter.

I think the proper ones will last because they're a decent piece of utility clothing, despite being fashionable (or having been!) so people will always wear them.

Maybe the copycat ones won't be so popular this year though.
I hasten to add mine were both heavily reduced/second hand.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 20/09/2012 07:57

There is a brilliant factory shop near me in South Shields if you are able to get there.

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 20/09/2012 08:11

Are you talking about the quilted ones? I like them, but so many are wearing them, although I have been offered a pink one... not so sure about that.

girlgonemild · 20/09/2012 09:01

I think the quilted type have become a bit ubiquitous. The belted wax jacket is still pretty cool I think. If they are actual Barbour items though as opposed to the high street copies I don't think fashion is so much a concern as they are classics in their own right.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 20/09/2012 09:10

I don't like the ones with cord collars - I keep wanting to attack the wearers with a lint roller.

MacyGracy · 20/09/2012 17:24

I think I will buy the one I saw in TK Maxx then! It was £59.95 and seemed lovely and warm, it is a Barbour brand one and says RRP 129 I think!
Thanks all.

I hate hate hate mine. I dont know what possessed me to buy it, i have worn it only twice. The sleeves were way too long and so i had it altered thinking it would entice me to wear it but alas no. I look like camilla parker bowels in it, i hate it. What a costly mistake.

BurlingtonBertieFromBow · 20/09/2012 18:57

I love mine. I wore my mother's which was older than me until it fell to bits. My new one was a bit too new for a while but now (2 years later) is just about OK. I think the traditional style baggy ones are best though - not the trendy ones with belts and buckles and Liberty linings.

JaquelineHyde · 20/09/2012 18:57

Barbours are classic outdoor wear not a one hit wonder fashion item.

I'm actually quite [shocked] anyone wouldn't know that any way!

germyrabbit · 20/09/2012 18:58

they still have them in john lewis, but make sure yours has BARBOUR written on it in big letters so every one will know how much it cost you

NorbertDentressangle · 20/09/2012 18:58

I really, really want one of the belted wax ones that are popular at the moment so if anyone knows of anywhere selling them at a reasonable price please do say.

NorbertDentressangle · 20/09/2012 18:59

(oops meant to add....or any good copies of the belted wax one as I suspect the real deal will be way too ££££)

TheShapeJaper · 20/09/2012 19:56

The Belstaff Roadmaster is much nicer I think. You hardly see anyone wearing those as opposed to every second person in a Barbour.

NorbertDentressangle · 20/09/2012 20:29

I've just googled the Belstaff Roadmaster - it is lovely but over £500 Shock

The 'name' doesn't really bother me, I just like the style, the length and the practicality of the waxed finish. I'm fed up of unstylish outdoor coats.

chipstick10 · 20/09/2012 20:57

Burlington Can you elaborate!!! When you say two years on its just about ok, what do you mean? Anything that might help me to wear mine

trixymalixy · 20/09/2012 23:23

I bought one on eBay recently. It had no belt or buckles, but has a liberty lining and I love it!

BurlingtonBertieFromBow · 20/09/2012 23:27

chipstick10 - I am probably just a weirdo that you should ignore, but new Barbours are just Wrong. They are all clean and smart and don't smell right. Now mine has spent a few nights screwed up on the floor of my car, has mud/horse shit on it, has been rained on a lot and snagged on brambles it feels more comfy. They kind of soften over time.

Mosman · 20/09/2012 23:35

None of them have the name printed all over it, that's why I like it.

EdMcDunnough · 21/09/2012 07:15

I don'treally like the quilted sort I have to admit. Not sure why. I do have a Belstaff and it's a Trialmaster - but it's a proper motorcycle jacket, with armour you can take out, it's very very heavy and even though I've just sold my bike, I'm keeping it as they'll only get more expensive! It was from ebay but still dear. And I want another bike one day

I've another Belstaff which is very worn and a bit knackered and that fits really nicely, not very waterproof any more though. They are beautiful things to own. Though Belstaff boots are not that supportive for riding in, I've sadly concluded that they're fashion items now, again another ebay bargain, could never afford £400 for a new pair. They are nice for changing gear in though. Smile

vjg13 · 21/09/2012 07:50

I've bought a denim waxed M&S copy. Blush It is really nice and only £69.

TheBrianRogersConnection · 21/09/2012 07:59

Don't buy the belted quilt international if you have large tits. It's not flattering - I love mine but it doesn't do me many favours.

TheBrianRogersConnection · 21/09/2012 08:00

And the quilting unquilts too fast for my liking, loads of little threads all over my jacket, (I'm onto another now after two seasons)
