Buying foundation

So, I decided I wanted to buy a dark foundation to try and contour with it a la Goss Makeup Artist on Youtube. I am pretty pale.

It must be so difficult to buy skin products at a reasonable price if you have dark skin! I only wanted a drugstore product as if I suck at using it I don't really want to be down lots of £££. I ended up buying a Sleek BB cream, which was literally the only product I could find in two Superdrugs and a Boots which wasn't a variation on pale through to tan.

Is it just where I live? Is it easier elsewhere? Or is the make up world sorely lacking in products for dark skinned ladies? I remember a whole line they used to do in Boots (years ago, mind!) but haven't seen it for such a long time I don't even remember the name.

Being Native-American,I have a "Tan" year round.I love my bronzy-orange
Skin, and I love applying makeup.I used to cast around for Anything that looked
Med-beige or bronzy. Finally,My Mother ( who used to be a John Robert Powers
Model in her youth), suggested that I use the Same formula as their models.
It is called "Max Factor Panstick"... and over these many years I just could not
Do without it.So I apply a light moisturizer first, then the Panstik, and then add
a light dusting of face powder on the neck as well,Blending it in.Lasts all day
and covers All blemishes and rough spots.Jill.

Japple I'm guessing you're in the US? Aside from the Panstick (which I know has been going for years!) do you find it easy to find colours for your skintone?

I hope I'm not being offensive, it just genuinely surprised me that when I looked round and really saw the colours I was looking at, there seemed to be nothing for a darker skin tone. I have read an article about finding foundations if you have dark skin - will try and find it.

Well,we were living in South America for a few years, and I was able to find
Darker colors at the stores, probably because All of the people were dark-skinned.If Panstik is sold out where we live,I resort to the "Lightest" colors I
can find...in the Aisles for Black People.Their Lightest Colors suit me.Some
"Beauty Supply" stores here in the States sell Special dark makeup also.Jill
