Are jumpers just awful?

Or is it just me? I have been looking, but everything I see is either no good for big breasts or looks to be too short.

If you have seen any that might look good with jeans or a skirt, can you show me. I seem to be jumper blind

Yeah that Zara one is nice. Good price too.

MrsCampbellBlack · 19/09/2012 20:06

I don't agree with only v necks for boobs - I wear round necks but wit scarves and its pretty flattering.

Second uniqlo, pure collection and j crew merino in the sale. Their tippi jumper is a lovely shape. I find cardigans harder as always feel matronly in them.

I love the look of the next one and if you're buying from next they've got some lovely glittery heels in at the moment too. About time it got better.

sassytheFIRST · 19/09/2012 20:10

Men's jumpers are yr friend - buy close-fitting, v necked and push the sleeves up.

Cherrypie32 · 19/09/2012 20:14

Also don't agree with V necks only for big boobs, I feel bustier in them. I had to steer myself clear of the shoe section of Next as fell for these www.next.co.uk/x502340s3#778066x50 but hardly ever go out and think they are too much for school run, home office :)
It was worth it for a massive laugh at The Fit Shoe Collection by Davina, just awful.

Zwitterion · 19/09/2012 20:23

I'm norky too and wear jumpers a lot.

Yesterday I wore an enormous chunky open knit jumper in cream, of all things. But it looked quite good.

I love boxy, crochet or knitted jumpers, with a tight vest under so you can see that I'm not boxy, iyswim. I keep my bottom half quite fitted to balance it out.

Also like mens jumpers. I bought a cashmere bottle green sweater in a charity shop the other day. I LOVE it.

LaTrucha · 19/09/2012 20:23

I've found some possible ones. What do you think?

Mint Velvet - Pricey!

Boden Pricey and neck too high?

ANy particular brand of men's jumper? How do you do the sizing?

OP posts:
MrsCampbellBlack · 19/09/2012 20:26

I'm not sure on the MV one - batwing does nothing for me and always reminds me of Sharon from Eastenders in her heyday.

The Boden one could work.

I also quite like a shirt under a jumper if not wearing a scarf - particularly denim at the moment.

Cherrypie32 · 19/09/2012 20:28

Mint Velvet is nice colour and style but not mad on the lace. Like the Boden ones and some great colours, infact liking the green a lot!

Caerlaverock · 19/09/2012 20:29

Loving the Zara one. I got a uniqlo lambs wool one and it is lovely

vesela · 19/09/2012 20:29

Benetton have some good jumpers this year.

Zwitterion · 19/09/2012 20:30

Men's jumpers - I just go for medium usually. (I am a busty 12). Medium is roomy but not baggy.

GAP are good. John Lewis do cashmere blend sweaters which are lovely.

My MIL is always picking up lovely cashmere men's sweaters in TKMaxx too.

LaTrucha · 19/09/2012 20:35

Ok. Thanks. Off to look at Uniqlo.

OP posts:
miaowmix · 19/09/2012 20:37

I'm quite busty and I love a jumper, but I find the style that suits me most is kind of slouch, slash neck, almost off the shoulder. I had a lovely one in silvery grey last year from Phase 8 but they don't seem to stock it anymore. I would avoid polo necks like the plague of course!

LaTrucha · 19/09/2012 20:41

On the 'slash neck' note, I just got very excited about the cashmere boat neck one on Uniqlo. A pity they only do it in bright yellow. What an odd choice!

OP posts:
LaTrucha · 19/09/2012 20:42

Oh. Dummy. They DON'T just do it in yellow.

OP posts:
LaTrucha · 19/09/2012 20:42

But the other colours are not that nice either.

GobblersKnob · 19/09/2012 21:54

I have a couple of these and am wearing them to death, I got them in a 18-20 (am a 12) and they are super baggy, fall off the shouder, but very fine and light.

LaTrucha · 20/09/2012 08:21

Nice!

OP posts:
Xiaoxiong · 20/09/2012 11:50

Gobblers are those longer in the back than the front, or am I going blind?

GobblersKnob · 20/09/2012 17:21

Xiaoxiong, they are yes.

QueenBeebread · 20/09/2012 19:01

I'm a 34FF and have a terminal attraction to jumpers even though they aren't often flattering on me. Love a good knit.

Boxy tops can really work as long as the fabric is lightweight and fluid. Then it shows off your boobs but moves so that your waist is highlighted underneath. Anything thicker knit and you do just look like a box on legs.

Was just saying on my COS thread that this top was incredibly feminine and flattering. The picture just doesn't do it justice.

MarshaBrady · 20/09/2012 19:03

I love a good knit too. And need some new ones.

noddyholder · 21/09/2012 13:55

Wearing zara one today and it is flattering for boobs. It has elastic at the hem which you can't tell when it is on hanger but it gives a great shape

TellMeLater · 21/09/2012 17:24

I find a cowl neck works well with big norks. As does v neck, scoop neck or crew neck with a scarf - basically something needs to divide your boobs a little. I avoid chunky knits and cable knits unless seeking out a coat/cardigan.
