Should I take these knackered ballet pumps back to Gap?

I bought some "City flats" leather ballet pumps from Gap at the end of June.
I've worn them a fair bit but have lots of other summer shoes which I've also worn (esp while away for 3 weeks).
I noticed the other day that the soles have worn through on each shoe and according to Timpsons they cannot be repaired.
I paid £30 for them but no longer have the receipt.
Is it worth returning them and asking for a refund?
Any thoughts?

no

Not after three months.

Pannacotta · 18/09/2012 21:43

Do you think 3 months is ok? I thought that they would have lasted a bit longer given the price and the fact they werent worn for nearly a month.

Think I need to find some better quality ballet flats (or buy them from Primark for a tenner!)...

Worth a try Wink

I doubt you will get a refund with no receipt maybe a credit note for last selling price, I work in a shoe department and i'm afraid we would say no unless they were faulty not just well worn. You might get further by calling the customer care. Have you a bank statement to show date of purchase?

DerbyNottsLeicsNightNanny · 18/09/2012 22:03

I would deff try, as pp said try to get bank statement or credit card statement if you have no receipt. They should have been fit for purpose, and whilst they were (for 3 months) I think its reasonable to expect a £30 pair of shoes to last for longer than this.

AKissIsNotAContract · 18/09/2012 22:12

Wouldn't you be embarrassed? You'd be known as the lady who tried to return worn out, possibly smelly, old shoes. The shop assistants would all talk about you.

BeauNeidel · 18/09/2012 22:23

I wouldn't, unless you only wore them every other day for a maximum of 3 weeks. Ballet shoes no matter what the price are not going to last long, unless they have a thick rubber sole.

Pannacotta · 19/09/2012 10:10

Think my OP was misleading. The shoes are in really good condition other than the holes in each sole - which I think is a design fault, they are two sections of sole a it like real ballet shoes. You can still see the branding inside the shoes and on the soles and they dont smell!
I probably only wore them once a week for a couple of months.

But I know without a receipt it is tricky...

I'd take them back with a bank statement or credit card statement.

Who pays £30 for shoes expecting them to last only 3 months? Not me!

Worth a try, worst they can do is say no.

AKissIsNotAContract · 19/09/2012 10:20

If it was these I could see your point but £30 is not much for shoes.

blondiedollface · 19/09/2012 11:19

Gap is really good for refunding you and City Flats are renowned for doing this (ex employee) go back and see what they say :)

Pannacotta · 19/09/2012 11:30

Thanks blondie that is good to know.

If you really have only worn them once a week for three months, then that's roughly 12 wears. I'd say that's not 'fit for purpose' and pretty poor. Yes, I'd have a go at taking them back. They can only say no Smile
