Oh cripes, expensive eBay mistake or not?!

Haven't been on eBay for ages (cos I got addicted and had to go cold turkey Blush) and have just spent £100 on a pair of unworn navy canvas Louboutin Fred flats. That is half of my autumn work wardrobe update budget gone!! That aside, have I just bought something that is now hopelessly passé and unstylish? I have never owned any Louboutins as they are usually way too high for me, not to mention expensive. I really like these shoes but bid half-heartedly and did not expect to win them. I know, I'm an idiot (slinks off to cancel eBay account...)

Couldn't find a link to the navy ones I bought but here they are in cream

...definitely nice as you say you'd wear them...

MrsHelsBels74 · 19/09/2012 08:33

Well I would never spend that much on a pair of shoes that I hadn't tried on, but I have annoying wide feet that don't always fit standard shoes.

Thingiebob · 19/09/2012 08:39

You have dainty feet! I quite like them if worn with certain outfits. Not my style though sadly.

If you like them and will wear them, you have a bloody bargain!

LaurieFairyCake · 19/09/2012 08:45

They're very nice and if it doesn't rain you will plenty of wear out of them.

However, that site you linked to was all fakes so I'd be very careful that the ones you bought from Ebay are actual Louboutins - they are very easy and worthwhile to fake as they're so expensive.

notMarlene · 19/09/2012 08:50

Woodhall Spa (where her ebay seller is based) is very much the sort of place I'd expect to find new, unworn LBs FWIW.

Cannotclosethebloodytupperware · 19/09/2012 09:56

Thanks so much for all the responses, notMarlene those links to very similar shoes are really handy. Having slept on it I think I will try to return the shoes to the seller and get my money back as if I am going to get some brogues it would be better if they were more weather resistant and already non-slip to save a trip to the cobbler.

The main issue is of course that I have spent too much of my budget on something frivolous and expensive (and that I've never actually seen Blush). I'm going back to work after a year on maternity leave and am so desperate to look OK and not totally mumsy and out of date that I think I got carried away!!

FWIW I quite like the shoes, but I probably wouldn't spend that amount of money on them as I think there is a good chance they are fake. I think people underestimate the amount of designer bags, clothes, shoes etc that are.

notMarlene · 19/09/2012 10:28

I would spend that much if I had it and was desperate for a style that was hard to find, but that sort of style is all over the place ATM and it seems like a shame to spend over the odds on canvas and an impractical sole (but, I don't give a feck about brands).

Silibilimili · 19/09/2012 10:31

Its not you can grow out of shoes. And the style is classic so they won't go out of fashion like wedges etc can. Stop feeling guilty and enjoy them.

BeauNeidel · 19/09/2012 10:32

I like them, but I wouldn't pay that much for them. Especially on a canvas shoe as we move into winter.

QuinnFabray · 19/09/2012 10:47

I like them. I wear black leather brogues. If I had the money, I would probably buy them, but I wouldn't spend half my budget on them. New Look have loads of brogue styles in at the moment.

PropertyNightmare · 19/09/2012 11:47

Right, I love Louboutins and own a few pairs but I'm sorry to say that you have made a big mistake.

Canvas will look mad in the winter.

Loubies lose the red on the sole very quickly, the sole is actually pretty soft as shoe soles go. They really are NOT everyday shoes.

Do something to get your money back or relist them.

Loubis are occasion wear imho.

HoopDePoop · 19/09/2012 12:16

I'd put money on them being fakes - can you look at the other listings from the seller to see? If they're selling things like Loubis in bulk, it almost definitely is. The site you linked to in your OP was a fakes site, so there def are fakes of that particular shoe floating around. On the plus side, sellers of fakes on eBay are ime usually happy to refund you as they don't want you to report them to eBay. If you have no joy getting a refund then threaten that. Unless you really are sure they're real. But alarm bells are zinging for me.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 19/09/2012 12:18

i love them, but £100 for canvas? but i love them.

Cannotclosethebloodytupperware · 26/09/2012 15:09

OK, update... Shoes have arrived and pretty sure they are genuine as I've shown them to a friend who has several pairs of Louboutins and other designer shoes. But - they are too narrow!! I am so sad as they are gorgeous but my stupid fat wide feet just won't fit in. So, need to re-list them on ebay but am thinking is it best to wait until Spring when people will be looking for lighter-weight canvas shoes? Obviously would not be expecting £100 for them, I think I am the only fool who would pay that!

Return them to the seller then.

mirpuppet · 26/09/2012 19:14

Cannotclosethebloodytupperware so sorry -- you live and learn.

Online shoe shopping is tricky that's why clarks; amazon & javari offer free shipping and returns.

chicky365 · 28/09/2012 12:24

You are going to get hit with a lot of sellers fees if you put htem back on ebay. I would try and return them or a friend has told me about a new website called redooce. com which has much cheaper fees than ebay. Good luck if you try www.redooce.com
