Argan or Moroccan oil?

Hi everyone :) I'd appreciate a bit of advice from those of you in the know.

I recently had my hair dip dyed, so it's blonder at the bottom. I really like it but it is getting a bit dry. I'm not sure if that's my hairdrier's fault so I think I'm going to invest in a new one, but it could probably do with some deep conditioning too.

I was in Sally's Salon Services and I saw bottles of argan oil for about £15. My hairdresser used Moroccan oil on my hair, but it's £30 to buy from them. Is there a big difference? Which one should I go for, if any?

In the meantime I'm making do with some Aussie 3 minute miracle!
Thanks :)

Aryan oil is the ingredient, Morrocan Oil is a brand name. You can find lots of different products with Aryan oil in these days.

Ah right, thanks MacyGracy.

The product I was looking at just seemed to be called Argan Oil. Lots of nice little bottles with shiny labels.

Sorry ArGan not Aryan!

I use the Organix brand Argan oil (Boots sell it) it was £8 a bottle and is lasting me ages!!

The Moroccan Oil branded stuff has silicones in it, whereas pure argan oil is just the oil. The pure oil is more versatile, can be used on skin, hair, even salads I think.

Not sure about the silicones in Moroccan Oil, depends whether you're a silicones fan I think.

argan oil is moroccan oil, argan is the name of the tree but because this tree grow just in morocco, it called moroccan oil is well, i advice you to buy the 100% natural one, its pure and just oil without any other ingredient.
i all the time buy it from ebay sealed one, its £30, but it very big size, 250ml, but its great.
you are paying for quality and quantity.
i will try to look for any link of the one i am using and give it to you.

I use Macadamia Natural Oil from time to time (used to use it all the time but don't really need so much moisture as my hair's in good condition) and I liked it because it didn't weigh my hair down. Straight up Argan oil will probably be more conditioning on your hair (because there are no silicones as others have mentioned) but it's a treatment, not a styling product. its exactly what i am using and its original, nothing else except argan oil.
i used this for years and it last for months.

happywithit · 17/09/2012 13:33

i find different one in the market but this on is the best.

CastielsTrenchcoat · 17/09/2012 17:40

I use Redken's version as my hair is fine, long and alot of it so didn't want too heavy an oil.

ChicHappens · 17/09/2012 18:33

I use argan oil on my face, hair, cuticles, eyes. 100ml for 13 euros in France. I didn't get on with Macadamia oil at all, but loved MoroccanOil.

freerangeeggs · 17/09/2012 18:54

Wow, thanks everyone, really helpful! I didn't realise you could use it on your nails and skin too, I'll have to give it a try as my nails and skin are shite at the moment.

Thanks for the link, happy within - going to visit right now!! :)

Although the ingredients are basically supposed to be the same, believe me morrocain oil is worth the extra. If you look on websites like 'look fabulous ' and similar ones although the price is usually the same they often have offers like a free body oil, candle or travel size bottle or extra 33% sized bottle - it all helps .

Bignanny30 · 22/11/2019 18:02

Also if you're thinking of investing in a new hair dryer - the dyson one is something else!! Expensive but incredible . Not often reduced but is the deal of the day tonight at midnight on a certain shopping channel on tv( I'm not sure if I'm aloud the name the channel). Midnight tonight.

Moroccan Oil, the brand with brown bottle and turquoise label, produces the hair oil treatment as their bestseller product. One of the ingredients is Argan oil and the entire list of ingredients is rather long.
It really did work very well on my (dyed) hair when I used it - apply tiny amount through towel dried hair. It makes hair soft, shiny, smooth and lovely. I do find the smell overpowering and chemical. It is expensive but it last a long time.

You can get pure Argan oil everywhere and you can use it absolutely all over you body, face, hands and hair, it feels light and absorbs very well, it lasts for ages. In my case, it doesn’t do much for my hair if used as above so I tend to include it in hair masks instead as it is nourishing without being greasy (coconut oil is a nightmare for me as it takes 3 washes to get rid of the oily look).

There are loads and loads of products labelled as Argan oil for Hair butargan oil is just one ingredient of many. I tried a couple of different ones from Amazon and they were too sticky or made my hair feel greasy no matter how little I would apply.

There is an Aldi dupe for Marrocanoil with very similar looking packaging, very cheap but it doesn’t compare at all. It feels a lot oilier and thicker and doesn’t do as much as the original but does offer a degree of smoothness and it doesn’t smell as strong.

IMHO, if you are after resultsand don’t mind the smell, get the original.
