After looking around for foundations, i have read the reviews and going to buy it looking around think ebay have the cheapest.

Also going to try the blusher and eyeshadow.

Hope it works well with my skin being pregnant too!

Anyone else think the foundation is good??

I hope it does good even coverage and not to 'heavy' on my skin and makes me feel wonderful!!

Foundation i use makes me go very patchy and orangeSad

OP - think there is a 3 for 2 on Bourjois at Suerdrug at the moment. May be worth looking there.

SavoyCabbage · 14/09/2012 06:58

I have one of their foundations, not that one, but it's good. Their eye and cheek colours are fantastic I think.

VerityBrulee · 14/09/2012 08:32

I have that foundation and love it. Bought it on the recommendation of Lisa Eldridge, and if it's good enough for her...

Have a look at her site, lots of great videos and recommendations Smile

I have and love it, i purchased it when i ran out of my usual chanel one and feeling skint, so though it would tide me over. I have not returned to chanel, the Bourjois is a great coverage, not too glowy (which my chanel was) just a perfect slightly matte look. Great price too

I love the black-lidded Healthy Mix foundation (haven't tried the serum gel because the reviews all say that it gives less coverage). It's very good value for the price - lasts all day on me, looks natural, evens out my skintone, smells lovely, and doesn't irritate my skin.

So the black too or the red one? I have got scars of skin due to ache and really just want a plain base not to heavy and this looks quite good for my skin.

I am ordering some off ebay tonight, i seen the offer in superdrug boots have one too. Just a lot cheaper online, i am going to order a blusher and some nude eyeshadow!

Whats the best colours for them?

I think you'd be happy with the black lidded (non-serum) one, if you're trying to cover acne scars - as I said, the coverage of the black-lidded one is apparently fuller, and I still need to stipple a bit of extra foundation over a couple of scars to cover them fully but don't need to use concealer as well. It doesn't look heavy on me (you can't tell it's there) and it does give good coverage all day, with No7 powder over the top.

If you don't already use one, a foundation brush is an absolute must with this if you want to cover any marks. The best one I have used is actually one of the cheapest: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Real-Techniques-by-Samantha-Chapman-Your-Base-Flawless-Expert-Face-Brush-/120958928780?pt=UK_Health_Beauty_Vitamins_Supplements&hash=item1c29b6c78c It's domed so you don't have to watch out for streaky application, and it's easy to stipple a bit of extra foundation over any marks without it looking obvious or unnatural. I liked it so much that I ditched my previous foundation brush and bought two of the Real Technique ones. If you need a powder brush too, the Real Techniques one is my favourite (so big and soft and fluffy), but EcoTools does a slightly cheaper one which is quite good (but significantly less big, soft, and fluffy).

Can't help but am enjoying the typos ie. suerdrug - and scars from ache. if I had ache scars there'd be no face left.

ElectricMonk · 15/09/2012 00:11

You're welcome! Healthy Mix has a fairly natural finish and is quite long-wearing so you probably won't need to use loose powder unless you really prefer it to pressed. I use the No7 Creme Touch pressed powder in translucent (mostly because it's hypoallergenic), and my foundation doesn't get shiny even though I have quite oily Mediterranean skin. I occasionally use those Kleenex blotting sheets to take the shine off my nose if it's a hot or particularly long day, but otherwise the pressed powder does fine with at most 1 touch-up.

In case you get the expert face brush, I just thought I'd mention that there are some good tutorials online for it. I found it a bit tricky to use at first because of the unusual shape but got the hang of it by my third attempt, after which I gave my other (quite new) foundation brush to my mum and bought a back-up EFB so I didn't have to wash it straight after using it each day Blush. The best technique I've found for applying Healthy Mix is to do half of your face at a time and:

  1. 1 small pump of foundation onto the back of your hand
  2. Cover tips of bristles well
  3. Use one side of the domed brush to dab foundation lightly onto your chin, cheek, side of the face, and forehead (blobs every 2 cm or so)
  4. Blend in circular motions until coverage is even
  5. Repeat on other side of face
  6. Squeeze out tiny bit more foundation and work it into the tips of the bristles
  7. Stipple lightly with one side of the domed brush onto scar/redness/mark, and then blend again in light circular motions
  8. Check finish
  9. Apply loose powder.

Used like that, it gives much better coverage than a normal foundation brush, and takes less time because the shape and large size mean that you don't have to spend time buffing out streaks or checking it's all even. I have no idea how many make-up rules I'm breaking by suggesting that you try applying it in that way (many, I expect) but it definitely works best for me.

Sickandsad · 15/09/2012 12:38

Tempted to try the healthy mix serum gel but not sure about colours. I did the Boots gadget thing and was matched as a cool ivory - any recommendations before I go shopping and buy the wrong shade?

Snoozy1 · 15/09/2012 13:10

If anyone shops at ocado they have 25% off Bourjois at the moment. I'd be interested to know how the shades come up too.

xmasevebundle · 15/09/2012 14:02

Im very pale and even ivory makes me turn into a TOWIE cast memeber, i think vanille 52 would suit me.

Holding back until monday when i go town and have a look and see whats the same match!

Will update then, ordered my brushes, blusher and eyeshadow thoughGrin
