Smart but funky shoes for bunion feet?

CravingSunshine · 13/09/2012 14:07

I cannot find the right shoes to wear with my nice dresses as my bunions are getting so bad! Any kind of heel you see in a mag just cuts my feet to bits, even if it's just for an evening. I'd love some leopard-print shoes to wear with my red Ted Baker shift dress but I don't think ballet pumps would work as they're too flat. Any ideas? The dress is a bit like this one

block heel ballet or wedge heel?

CravingSunshine · 13/09/2012 14:51

Faux I love those wedges but my problem is that the bone just below my big toe on the inside of the foot is sticking out so much that the tops of the shoes are too narrow always and actually cut my feet. A bit gross sorry. It's almost like I need wide shoes at the front top and narrow at the back as I've got a narrow heel so they always slip off.

I mean, lord help us, this is what you get if you type in shoes for bunions. I'd rather hide at home in my slippers!

Actually if anyone else is in the same boat and following, I found [http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/933604-shoes-for-bunions/AllOnOnePage this MN thread]] from a few years back

What shape shoes do you normally wear that are comfy? If you can link I'll look for something else Smile

(and step away from the traffic warden shoes - we can do better than that!)

CravingSunshine · 13/09/2012 15:03

I used to like Mary Jane kind of shoes as I managed to keep them on my heel. I love the idea of wearing high courts - your usual wedding/glamour type shoe but have never really managed it.
TBH I live in Fit Flops in summer and squidgy boots in winter or Converse. Since I'm a SAHM I haven't had to be smart. But when I worked, I guess it was boring old M and S Footglove. Boo!
Thanks Faux!

Here's another current thread with someone in search of wide shoes or boots. Try some of the links there.

could you manage an ankle boot so there wasn't anything to cut in to the foot at the front?

overpriced

CravingSunshine · 13/09/2012 19:48

Mmnn I'm liking those wide leopards at BHS, Faux. Thanks for the tip-off. May well take a mooch down there tomorrow, double buggy and two model babies in tow.

Sarky those ankle boots are fab, aren't they? But I don't think I can justify £60 let alone, ahem, 200 and the rest. Sadly.

Agree they are shockingly expensive. I posted more to see if the style might work for you. If so I'm sure we can find something similar at a less insane price.

Have you tried Clarks wide fit? Some of the "heels" have built in platforms so not as high as they appear.
