Anti-ageing moisturisers and facials: advice please!

I have been scrutinising my face post holiday (watching my tan fade sadly...) and I think I need to start with some anti-ageing products. Unfortunately I don't have an unlimited budget so am trying to decide whether to have a monthly facial and use cheaper products at home, or buy more expensive products to use at home and have a facial a couple of times a year. Which is best?! And are there any anti-ageing products or facials that you wise S&B mumsnetters recommend?

For info I am 32 with dry skin and fine lines around my eyes, quite deep wrinkles on my forehead. Rest of face is ok wrinkle wise. Thanks!

I would opt for a couple of simple effective "heavy weight" products and facials by a dermatologist twice a year.
A deep moisture plumping facial to rstore after summer and a clarifying brightening facial springtime.

My routine below (am 38 and now only buy products once a year after a visit to the dermatologist)

All year a good cleanser
It does everything: gently soften dead skin, cleanse tone, moisturize, summer and winter.

A High potency antioxidant cream/serum. Coffeeberry is the most potent atm for those skins too sensitive for vitamin C.

This a 2 in one serum and moisturizer. It lasts forever. Lots of "intelligent" all in one products out there now. That's why its better to visit a dermatologist than be sucked into buying a full set of skincare at a beauty counter.

With these 2 basic products i occasionally use:

  • a simple moisturizer for those days where skin feel a bit more thirsty or to dab on drier areas or when in need of comfort.
I like the Eucerin Hyaluron filler for its plumping effect.
  • A 45+ SPF everyday in summer and big outdoor days.
  • A face oil. They are the base for my homemade facials. I love them all! A simple one and a treat like one of the decleors for nourishing.
I Deep cleanse once very blue moon when skin feels congested, use it to remove stubborn make up, make masks with manuka honey or scrubs with honey or yogurt and oats.

-for a pick me up, the BLISS oxygen mask. Radiance in 5mn guaranteed. And smells so good.

HTH!

Brilliant, thank you so much harpy! That all looks perfect, and quite straightforward which is great as I don't spend much time on my skin at all at the moment so it won't be such a big leap moving to a regime like this.

Really appreciate your advice.
