Will an eyebrow tint fill in gaps?

Over plucked my eyebrows for years, but over the past year I have grown them out and although its been a long (and at times embarrassing!) process I'm amazed at how much they've thickened up.

However, the beginnings of each eyebrow (part nearest my nose) are really sparse and I don't think will ever get thicker. I'm so fed up of filling that area in as I find it really hard to get both sides to look the same.

I'm off to have them waxed tomorrow and thinking of enquiring about a tint - will it fill those areas in? My eyebrows are already as dark as you can possibly get so no point having it done for any other reason.

Not really, if u have a few fair ones in there then it will help a tad, otherwise you need to pencil them in. I use a powder brow kit and it's fab!

I have exactly the same problem-very dark eyebrows-over plucked bits nearest middle an they aren't growing back despite them still growing right in the bloody middle I use the benefit kit which is good but would like something more natural and permanent.

It might colour some very fine hair that you wouldn't normally see but that is only if it is there in the first place. Maybe try it once to see? It shouldn't be too expensive. Your beautician could look to see of there is any/ enough fine pale hair for it to be worth doing with their magnifying mirror. I have a sparse patch on each eyebrow in the same place as you and wouldn't be without Benefit Brow Zings. Wax and powder you apply with tiny brushes, fab colour and lasts all day and evening.

My SIL uses something called HD brows, it's a pallette. It's amazing, her brows look fab.

Thanks for replies. Not sure there is enough hair to make a difference if dyed.

Haven't penciled them in this morning as have wax appt in a little while and my whole face looks better, I look so harsh when I' use pencil but they do look silly with the big gaps. I do actually do quite a good job with pencil but it's just a faff I could do without in the mornings.

Will chat to wax lady and see what she thinks. Will look at kits suggested too, thanks :)

Pffft, won't be going there again. She has missed loads of stray hairs and deliberately held the mirror too far away for me to see properly.

Back to having them threaded I think, just a shame the nearest place that does threading is 25 miles away!

What did she say about tinting? I've been thinking of it as mine are sparse in places too after crap waxing years ago. They've just never grown back. Every time I wax mine I wish I'd threaded instead. It's miles better imo.

OhThisIsJustGrape · 13/09/2012 11:57

I didn't ask her, she was a miserable cow so decided not to bother! I'm not impressed with waxing at all, it's my first time having it done so don't know if it's her or the procedure that is crap but when I've had them threaded I get a clearly defined shape, they're perfect. Mine now they've been waxed are all straggly and I need to take tweezers to them.

Just difficult with 4 kids to get to nearest city to have them threaded. Can't find anywhere local that does threading unless anyone here is from west Norfolk and can help?

Can't help re the threading I'm afraid, but have you tried 30 Day Mascara? It's a hair tinting kit (Boots do it) for both eyelashes and brows.

I only use it on my brows as they are thick but fair - in fact without a tint, the outer half of each brow is not visible, I look ridiculous from any sort of a distance!

You need to get right down to the roots for the best result, and make sure you cover every hair in your brows.

BUT - if it gets on your skin it WILL tint it (think hair dye) and it will take a day or so to fade, so either be very careful, or do it on a day when you're going to be in the house and won't see anyone. If you have to go out, a good coating of make up helps (yes it has happened to me!)

The colour will look very intense for a day or so, but again it will fade, and also you will get used to it. Try the brown one first.

Oh I also heard years ago that plucking or threading is much better for the skin round your eyes than waxing is, as it pulls the skin much less.

Mumofjz · 13/09/2012 12:32

I have mine tinted and all it does is darken what is already there, if you have no or little hairs there to start, tinting wont be any good.....however..... have you thought about permanent make up? It's a form of semi permanent tattooing on the face ie: lips, eyebrows, eyeliner - so you never need to use make up (last's about 5yrs i think) A neighbour of mine has been doing it for quite a number of years and she's excellent at it (trained proffesional) if you live in the manchester/cheshire area i'll let you have her number otherwise it may be a route you can look at :)

Sophie Thorpe is the woman to go to for filling gaps. It's semi-permanent make-up (like tattooing, but gentler, so it fades).

She will do shaping/waxing as well, but her main thing is filling gaps/darkening brows. I know several beauty journalists who swear by her.
