Autumn/winter challenge time: The impossible dream (fashionable shoes to walk in but wear with a dress for wide feet)

Nope, you'll never manage it. Shoes or kneelength boots They need to be:

  • grippy and substantial enough to stay on foot and deal with rain
  • not actual walking shoes - I don't want to look like a hiker at work also...
  • not 'old lady' shoes and ideally 'current' (no Van Dals pls)
  • in wide fit (E or above)
  • not too high but up to mid heel would do; ballet pumps no good unless with extra support, slight heel
  • suitable to wear with knee length dresses (ie no ankle boots) and sometimes suitable for formal work occasions as well as school run...

I throw down the gauntlet...

I came on to say check out Evans but someone else got there first. They do superwide shoes as standard - some of which are even too wide for my feet - and my feet generally fit the shoe box better than the shoe.

'Zackly, queenie. The US Merrell shoes are almost wearable but those UK ones are uniformly, well, just a bit worthy hiker nonsense. It will NOT work with my new signature style of fat bird in a curvy vintage wiggle dress at work. Which I also have to wear for a mile or two walk along muddy paths in mid-winter to school and back.

I might have bunions, and fallen arches, and fat calves. But I WILL NOT wear those things with a dress. Noooo waaay.

I do have these in navy already They're great for work actually but just a fraction too high for long walks.

How about El Naturalista, can vouch that they're wide enough and sturdy but not old lady IMO. I have the Mary janes in red.
